420EX Speedlite help

I picked up a 420Ex Speedlite yesterday.

I have a Rebel XT and also an Elan7N, what I am wondering is it I can use this flash wirelessly without having to buy the transmitter to go on my camera?

Any help would be awsome with this.

you need the st-e2 or a 550ex to use the 420 ex wirelessly. if that's too rich for your blood go pick up an off camera cable for it that goes from the pc port or the hot shoe to the flash.
