we were out for a quick rip this morning and decided to hit ladies, great sunshine, beautiful conditions, what more can you ask for on a long weekend? that is, until we got to the triple drop after the A-frame.
lying across the little low ladder bridge that keeps you out of the muck were a couple of logs. thinking perhaps this was to indicate the bridge was broken, i checked it out on foot, but the bridge was just fine!
BUT, 10 feet further down the trail was another log....and another! we lost count how many we pulled out of the way, lots. (sorry no pics, didn't have the camera with us). various obstacles, rocks, logs pulled from the side of the trail to go across the trail or parallel to the trail in the middle of it...definitely desiged to get in the way of a mountain bike. all the way to the top of upper skull (might have been some on upper skull, as another rider passed us, and not sure if he encountered any that he cleared out of the way).
i'm pretty sure we the first to ride ladies this morning, as i ended up with quite a few spider webs all over me as i rode through the first section of the trail.
i've never been so angry. it makes me sick.
thankfully, no one was hurt. just keep your eyes open, do the proverbial "look before you leap". i just hope this guy gets caught before someone does get hurt.
i'll be bringing the camera from now on, also plan to write a letter to the editor for the NS news.

on fromme ... shit! id like to see the sick fuck doing this to be strung from a tree by a noose. id be there throwing rocks, pointing and laughing.
:swearing:
Fromme has a new Trail Nazi luckily they havnt resorted to putting logs in dangerous places like the Nazi over on Cypress. I know Ladies and Espresso have been targets with the exact same method as described above.
was on Fromme about a month ago and (Don't know the name of the trail) the trail before diggers I think. The trail which starts left with a built up dirt booter then another wood one right after and then a couple of skinny skinnies around five and four feet up both with drops at the end. Don't know if anyone can name the trail but anyway on the blind landing of the firdt jump there were logs on it that would have caught a rider by surprise and would deffinatly cause the rider to crash. So watch out, I should have posted this sooner but limited access to a comp and a shotty memory got in the way.

thanks for cleaning up the mess Penny.
if anyone catches these people in the act, I'd suggest getting a very good description and file a police report; make sure you tell them you're going to report them to the police as well. It might be enough to scare them off in future.
maybe even secretly follow them home if you can spare some time and you want to be a real sleuth and give the cops an address to go to. careful if they have a dog.
Getting confrontational won't help. It'll just escalate things.

Also watch out for anti-mountain bike obstacles on the trail you exit on when you ride Pipeline (left on Baden Powell then first right) - both times recently I have been there there have been log and rock obstacles set up. The first time they were small enough to ride over second time they were too high to ride over so I moved them.

Don't these idiots realize that they can't win. :nono:
They can keep placing logs every weekend, and all it does is cause 1 or 2 riders (thanks Penny in this case) to lose their day and have to move the stuff out of the way. Even if their intention is to hurt someone, I will only hurt 1 person, then the trail will be cleared and the riding will continue.
Trail sabotage is soooo F---'d up. It does nothing to stop the growth of the sport, spurs on more trail construction (if the Nazi wrecks a stunt) and ruins the forest floor around the trail because these losers are dragging the debris from the surounding forest floor, making the trail footprint (environmental impact as Ernie would call it) larger.
Doing this kind of activity shows this person is about as stupid as someone can get. they are causing more problems for the forest, Bike/hiker relations and may hurt someone which is a criminal offence, and they not really making a difference to the actual # of mountainbikes on the shore.
Now I gonna suspect every non-biker I see in the woods, and if they are dirty, I'm gonna interigate them to see if they are trail builders or just a fuck-head. :fu:
Man this burns my ass. I work hard fixing my little section of trail on the switchbacks of Lower Griffen, and somebody rolled a few huge logs (that were acting as retaining walls) down the hill 2 weeks ago. these were big (3' dia, 6 and 8 foot long) logs that were set deep in the ground and someone popped them out and pushed them down the slope. It took me and Knnn some time to drag those babys back into place, we spiked them in with 3' long cedar spikes on their downhill side, they will be much harder to move next time.
