its a pretty sweet run in my opinion. the jumps are bigger than those on a-line. as it is right now, the trail is broken up into 2 sections, upper and lower. the upper section was kind of rocky when i rode it a few times last week. the lower section was alot of fun. i think i recall there being a few step downs (may have been a different trail though i cant remember) and its alot of fun. they even have grass lining the jumps on the lower section.
my advice is try the trail once, hit upper freight train-->no joke-->lower-->a-line
me and my buddy hit that a couple of times and it was an awesome day

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that just because someone is riding a hardtail that they are going to get worked, there are a lot of guys out there that rip on hardtails and probly wouldn't have any problems riding freight train. The only problem with doing freight train is the gap in between the 2 sections where you have to ride a more technical trail or bear cub. Bear cub is basically a fire road which could be done and no joke isnt a very hard trail IMO and less technical than somthing like whistler Dh so I think it should be fine on hard tail. With all that said it probably wouldn't be as much fun on a hardtail because of the technical sections unless you like that kind of stuff.

Yeah, it's fine on a hardtail. You don't get worked, at least I didn't, but I'm used to Whistler. I've ridden pretty much every black and double black, and I've had no problems at all, and can keep up to my friends on their fullys.

It's pretty cool, there is one section with a step down to step up that are fairly big jumps, if you go of the left side of the step up you can boooost, and then go around a corner and there's another step down... bad side is you have to ride on the "open road" section of no joke which is really annoying even on the fully, super bumpy and fast. It's gonna be sweet, i'd say definitely worth checking out just to see all the work they're putting in to it.

I've ridden it many times and I am pretty sure there isn't a step down to step up. You also don't have to ride the open road.... just ride No Joke - Duffman - Freight Train.

there was two options go left in to like a 8 pack or so which was still being built and roped off, or right in to that jump line, they were pretty big... fun

to me no joke was an open road (singletrack) and it sucked (the freight train detour part)

i like the very last part of it through the woods before it gets to easy does it. soo smooth. not rocky like the rest.

Road

There is an obvious difference between the two and there is an even bigger difference between the singltrack on No Joke and the road called Bear Cub. I think you missed the turn off back onto No Joke and ended up taking the road down to the start of Freight train. I wasn't trying to be a smartass, but since you took it there...

Myself ended....

i thought you were being sarcastic... but this is stupid, i know i'm not tripping you get on freight train for a while, then it stopped at the double track [road] , where it is roped off (at least it was when I was there) the options were to take the left which was the newer part of freight train (jump line) which was not open, the middle where there was a flat pedal in to a step down and then in to a step up (you can't see the step up lip until you go off the step down), after that you make a right hand turn do another little step down and then you're on the double track again the other option was just stay on the double track [right] and skip the jumps which you take down to the acute angled left hand turn which is also known as no joke which is an open singletrack [a la road] section that is really frickin fast but super damn choppy but has nothing technical on it this is the part that would not be fun on a hardtail or any bike for that matter.

Next time you're up there ask for the step down in to step up off of freight train and i'm [not] talking about the one on D1 it is definitely off of freight train, and it was sweet cause you can go as big as you want.

did that make sense?

by the way how is that picture of the single track not a road? it is an open pathway for a vehicle, not all roads are meant for two wheeled vehicles.

Ok, I know what you are talking about. At the end of UPPER freight train there is a table to a steep long landing (not a step down) to a step up. After that you get on the truck road and just go around that first corner. This is where I think you missed the continuation of No Joke. Then you make a left going down a hill which brings you back into No Joke (there is a bridge and creek jump as you enter No Joke). From there, you ride a long section of No Joke through the trees with a couple brief road sections in between. Then No Joke becomes Duffman as it enters the trees for the last time (there is a jump right before the trees). As you come out of the trees, you go over a couple rollers until you get to the Sidetrack intersection... go straight... go past No Duff... and then immediately make a hard right to ride LOWER Freight train.

I think you saw the sign for No Joke on the double track and thought that was the trail. The trail goes down a narrow stretch as you make a left off of the doubletrack (also known as a road). I bike there everyday, so I know what I am talking about. I can see how it might be confusing.

In biking a road (or double track) is usually thought of as something you could drive a truck up. If you can only ride or drive bikes up a trail it is called singletrack. No Joke is obviously singletrack.
