For those who are going to be at whistler for crankworks I encourage you to come and try the trials comp and try the beginner class. Some of the best riders in the world will be there for the elite comp, and the event all takes place before the slopestyle starts.

TRIALSWORX
Crankworx Mountainbike Festival
Biketrials Competition

August 6th, 2005

A Canada Pacific Trials Association Event

Minimum $1000-$2000 purse
Prize money for Expert and Elite
Prizes for Novice and Sport
Medals and Draw prizes including a
Monty 230 Urban Trials Frame

This one-day event will feature some of the finest Biketrial riders from Canada and the United States. These riders will maneuver their bikes over some of the most difficult terrain in the world. This event will be an all age, all category competition where riders can test their skill and balance against some of the best Whistler terrain and man made obstacles.

The main showcase sections will be in the centre of the Whistler Village where visibility is at its highest and the riders will perform spectacular moves just a few feet away from the spectators.

The Competition

Riders from all ages and abilities will be welcome… from 3 year olds maneuvering through a challenging course to some of the top Biketrial riders in the world defying gravity while maintaining their balance.

Every competitor from the young kids to the top competitors will be announced as they enter the main “sections”, with all the young first time competitors receiving a medal and a huge round of applause from spectators and family.

Brochures will be distributed explaining the rules, directions to the “natural” sections (which will be very close by), as well as rider profiles and sponsor information.

The competition will begin Saturday morning with the novice and sport categories. The expert and elite riders will begin in the afternoon with the finale in the early evening with only Elite riders finishing on the final village sections. The evening crowds tend to be a little more “boisterous and lively” which really encourages the riders!

A running scoreboard will be displayed in the main village area to give an ongoing tally of the placement of each elite rider during the competition.

The Sections

There will be 6 sections of which 1 and possibly 2 of them will be in the middle of the village for visibility and ease of viewing. These will be “man made” type sections. The others will be within a few minutes walk and will be “natural” type sections.

The village sections will consist of logs, cable spools, huge beams, tables, stumps and anything else that will be interesting for the rider and spectator alike. We also hope to acquire another location within the village that would be suitable.

The natural sections will have the Expert and Elite riders in the Fitzsimmons creek area (the dry creek bed area), where the bridge and banks will be perfect viewing areas to watch the riders struggle up and down the massive boulders and logs.

The Novice and Sport riders will also have 1 or 2 sections in the village, with their natural sections in Rebagliati Park. The terrain in the park is perfect for riders of the intermediate level. A small “base” area will be set up on the grass with the sections located just inside the trees amongst the logs and trails.

Prize Money

The minimum prize money available will be $1000. Depending on rider entries and sponsors I anticipate having $2000 with prize money to Expert and Elite and Product and gift certificates to Novice and Sport.
