Tonight I received a one-page letter from the Upper Lynn Residents Association (ULRA) looking to recruit members for a one time (family) fee of $5.00. A brief synopsis of the letter follows:
------------------------------------------------------------------
The purpose of the ULRA appears to be to provide a single organized community voice that represents the interests of residents in the following general catchment area:
East/west from Lynn Creek to St Paul’s/St Albans (over by upper Lonsdale) and north/south from the top of Mountain Highway down to Dempsey and East Braemar.
The ULRA's objective is to work "proactively" with the District regarding the current and future use of the Mount Fromme Area and specifically the Alpine Recreational Strategic Plan. Items of particular concern appear to be as follows:
Ensure that the recreational use on Fromme does not adversely affect the surrounding community.
Development of an acceptable traffic management plan.
Maintenance of "Resident Only Parking"
Review parking and access points; minimize local impacts, while maintaining access and potential staging area.
Ensure recreational uses are managed in an environmentally sound manner.
If you live outside the designated catchment area you cannot join the ULRA.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Has anyone else seen this letter?
As I live in the catchment area I will follow up and see if it’s kosher. If it is, I will join up so that I can put a pro mountain biking view across and help keep the NSMBA up to date on any significant developments.
If this group does turn out to be recognized as an important/significant consultee by the District then I suggest that anyone else in the catchment area that receives this letter also consider joining and make sure their opinion is heard and represented.
Sharon is this worth a separate sticky or do you wish to just add it to the end of the land issues Sticky?
