haha there's no such thing as motivation in a bottle. You actually have to have the drive to want to better your body to allow yourself to keep working out. Creatine will only fubar your liver and protien supplements require a tremendous amount of attention to your body, what your eating and when your working out. If you dont have the drive to stay in the gym then I wouldnt suggest taking any of these supplements as they will just make you gain alot of weight (fat). The only thing supplements do is to allow your muscles to regenerate/rebuild at a faster rate so you can work them (by working them you damage the muscle which forces it to rebuild and naturally it rebuilds larger to help prevent it from being damaged again) more often and harder. It sounds like your trying to start with a program that is far beyond your cabailities right now. I would suggest going to the gym for a week and just doing a 15 min run (by run I actaully mean running, minimum 7mph,no jogging, so in 15 mins on flat you should be covering about 4 k.) Then after that week, keep doing the running but add an ab circuit (again it has to be somewhat intense, sit ups, crunches, oblique twists, supermans, deadbugs, tripods etc.) Then build from there. Start slowly on weight lifting until you build up the stamina and motivation to continue through the whole work out. If that doesn't help then I would just stick to running to keep yourself in decent shape. Other than that it's hard to find motivation until you see a gut forming around your waist and you become a woman repelant, when that happens you'll be in the gym 24/7.

go where the hot chicks workout. That motivates me to want to stay there and lift. Bring music you like to. Sometimes the gyms play the gayest music and it's hard to get into. Stay away from fast food and go where the hot chicks workout. Btw its not usually the community center gyms.

Music or a friend can really help. friends can push you to do anything.

I'm the opposite - I'm not motivated to go to the gym, but once I'm there, the environment motivates me. I don't like to workout with a partner, I prefer to do my own thing, but being around other people with the same goals keeps me going and helps me push it a little more sometimes.

Weights I prefer to do at home with a set of powerblacks and an incline decline bench, but no room for the bench in a condo. I actually enjoy the LifeCycles and other name brand stationary bikes and stair climbers, I like being challenged by the different programs in them, difficulty settings etc

Not every can handle a gym atmosphere - there's a lot of gym bunnies and posers that are just hanging out to see how good they look, and most of the people in that category have a small brain and a piss poor attitude to match.

You need to find a gym where people actually go to work out. These people are friendly and helpful, willing to spot you, share equipment more readily, also share tips and techniques.

Your motivation has to come internally - you have to want that last rep, that last sprint on the treadmill, whatever - you need to find what motivates you.

The motivotor does not have to be sweet and nice. I had a bad break up with a girl when I was 21 - I put on about 45# of muscle in 4 - 5 months of throwing all my anger etc into way too many hours a day in the gym. Nothing wrong with the girl, there's been many since, but it was a motivator.

The question is what motivates you? I can hold a grudge against dead people, so anger is fine by me, but not most.

Motivation requires an emotion (don't you all go getting teary eyed on me... heh) - desire need greed anger pleasure etc... you need to find the reason to push the plates and grind that last 30 seconds @ 100 rpm on lvl 9 going no where.

Walking in to a gym with the attitude that it's cool isn't gonna cut it in the long run. I'm not saying that is your attitude, just an example.

You have to want every rep, pull, push, stroke, stride, gasping breath, to feel good when you walk out sweaty and sore, and want to come back and do it again.

If you can't get motivated in the gym, stay on your bike. The air is better outside anyhow..... :D

Edit - Oh ya, burnout is real too. If you go too often, its easy to lose your motivation. Take a break for a few days if that's the case.

Heat hit it on the head. Anger, passion, emotion. I know when I get angry I can workout/ride my bike for hours on end because I have so much pent up rage it just fuels me forever. If you r not motivated now it's gonna be hard to do it more and more later on.

the problem with roids is that the mucles actually limit your range of motion

The problem with steroids is they are a drug and are not good for you.

Just to keep on the same note:

The problem with steroids is they're stupid, and unless the person taking them is by doctor prescription, they're stupid too, no exceptions on this. Steroids do a lot of damage to the human body - mostly causing heart and liver problems.

It's like doing cocaine because you're depressed - it's not a realistic option.
