I took a demo one from BSP up Fromme for a rip down UOC/LEOPARD/KRINKUM/LOWER GRIFFIN.

Pedals VERY VERY solidly, like a Banshee Scream does.--no lateral flex, great pedaling geometry and spv suspension.-----------I did feel the weight though....mostly when attempting to accelerate or when losing momentum in turns and needing to get back up to speed.

The bike is very very confidence inspiring in the rough as the frame feels as if it is a truck chassis with lighter springs. Cornering, bombing through rock beds and taking hits the suspension remained responsive and well controlled. The lateral rigidity of the rear end was obvious even to a mild mannered old guy like me.

The session felt comfortable and I felt familiar and confident on it right away.--Once again--GREAT geometry for me.
--note of interest:
Those Bontrager Big EArl treads on it hooked up GREAT.

My only complaint is the weight and the lack of Four Bar activeness which I am used to and prefer.

That's my less than professional two cents worth.
--hope it helps!

Was the Foes too much bike for you? That model is pretty beef.

I remember you have/had one because there was a time when I wanted one as well.

no its good, but theres some things I have to figure out before it gets a top rating. Im sure beating the shit out of it isnt helping. But the geometry is perfect, all around its stiff. But theres one area of question, which i will soon have an answer too.

the clunk in the rear end ian? or have you not noticed that yet? hahaha

Ok, and for your advice, I would say go for it, i love it way more than my devinci, the parking lot test pretty much sums up the bike. The frame may be on the heavy side for what it is, but once you get it going you can toss it around like nothing. If you are doing lots of high speed downhill stuff i would suggest a floating brake as something to top it off. When you lay off the brakes it does great through the rough stuff, its when you get in the the rough stuff and have to slow down wherre you take a beating. If you want you can take my bike for a run at whistler sometime when you are going up. That way you will get an idea of what the bikes all about and if it is for you.

sweet! whats your oppinion if the breakout+ on the front? im kinda dodgy about the sc idea, but i also like it ... the 1.5 head tube is somewhat reassuring. how do you find the wheels ... strong like bull or kinda noodeley, and are you running it with the bolt on axle or qr? as for everything else it looks good. how is that design working with the bearings and all? its a little different from anything ive really seen.

also in the mix may be a playmate w/ 66, buuuuuuut yea i dunno.

thx again.

im pretty sure axx's doesnt have many, if any stock parts.

Im not running mine with the stock fork, (or parts minus saint cranks) but i can tell you the wheels are strong, and a reasonable weight. Im running a bolted axle. The brearing part of the suspension design is awsome, the dropouts ( my area of question ) seem to be able to shift back and forth under heavy braking. This causes a creaking under heavy pedaling and braking when there is dirt in there. Other than that, there isnt one thing i could complain about.

Doesn't that one guy from Drop IN ride the Trek ? HE seems to be able to move that around pretty good.

i bet nooner is looking for a complete. as for being unhappy that i traded my fly ... not really, there's both pros and cons to it all. my main intention in this all is to help a friend out, and to get a new toy. see i got a buddy that came here from germany, and he is buying a bike either way, and if i can help him out by hooking him up and getting something new for myself as well, it seems to me that everybody wins.

still not 100% that he will buy it, but for what im offering it at if he doesnt buy it i could flip it pretty quick. or so i would hope.

thanks for the help
steve

the session is built like a brick shithouse, its rear swingarm pivots are big burly 1"!!! AND no its not another scream in weight and slug feel, its pretty nimble if you( the rider ) can maneuver it the way IT can. the stock 77 is around 4299 and comes with a very sweet setup for the price

dosnt it weigh i pound less than a scream? I would think they would have a similar feel, the scream always felt nice when pedaling but you could really feel the weight in the ass end.

Nooner, I know you owned a fly and currently have a mono. What are the key features your new bike should have? What did you not like about the fly and DHS?

axx

the frame is 12.5 pounds... pretty heavy if you ask me, but it rocks.

oh, and it feels alot different than a scream... more nimble, and definatly a lighter feel... even though its close to the same weight.

i might be a bit biased on my opinion of screams, but theyre probably closer in weight than i thought, but the trek is a clean looking design, very simple and not overbuilt in every area possible and they put a lot of research into it with the help of shandro

most bikes will have a lot of noise and clunking if someone is beating on it doing races, shuttles, whistler etc... and not taking fine+meticulous care in making sure its in 100% shape
