View Full Version : Scream Rear-End Troubleshooting
The rear-end of my lady makes such odd noises. "Hollow" and sharp clacking noises.
The bearings are ok, i checked them. i am maybe too dumb to find the origin of that sound...i thought that maybe the srew that hold the shock have a little bit of play so that the shock can move around.
Please help me. Thanx in advance

Sounds to me like your DU bushings on your shock are shot. A decent shop should be able to replace them for you.
If it's not this then I'm not too sure, is your rear hub properly adjusted?

When was the last time you replaced the link plate bearings? If they wear too much then they're difficult to remove.

Ahhh..what are the "link plate" bearings?? The ones where the plate and the frame are "connected" at the seat tube? English is not my mother tongue..sorry.
I checked all the bearings, no play, still smoothly running.
Maybe the DU bushings....what the hell is that? The ones where the shock is "sitting" on, i.e. where the screw/bolt that holds the chock goes through?
I have to get it fixed, tho...headset busted. nose landing.... :stupid:

could be the derailleur, also check the shock basement for cracks

Cracks don't make banging, hollow metal on metal noise.
Its your rear derailleur slapping the chainstay. Look for the obvious before you waste time pulling bearings and bushings.
If a DU is worn enough to be audible when you ride, it would have a massive amount of play when the bike is not being ridden (ie: when you pick it up, move it around, etc.).
If you think you're not competent at diagnosing the issue I would suggest taking it into a Banshee dealer and getting it checked out.
It beats fuxoring it up more by trying to fix something you're unfamiliar with.
In the meantime post a picture or two with an arrow pointing towards the source of the noise.

if im not mistaken i believe Mic is from Germany which would make going to a local Banshee dealer quite difficult.
Here's the Banshee distributor in your area.
Email them and they will point you in the right direction.
