My old 2000 Boxxer is still kicking but definately getting tired.
I am considering a '05 Flick 150mm. --I love the TPC and my girlfriend's '03 Sherman seems great.
Will I miss the dual crown security or are these new single crowns actually stiffer than my old Boxxer?

I rode a buddies bike with the 2003 Boxxer Race on it, compared to my Sherman Breakout, the Boxxer was a noodle. From 2000 to 2003 Rock Shox put beafier stantions on the Boxxer, but there was also added travel, so it would be comparable in flexibility, is my guess.
I'd say go for it, you will love the feel of the Sherman, plus the versatility of the single crown.

I used to ride a 2003 Boxxer Race on my Big Hit, and now ride a Manitou Breakout (SC) on my new bike. I LOVE having a single crown again and don't think I would ever go back to double crown if I could avoid it. The unlimited turning radius is great, as it allows that extra bit of room to catch your balance when making a tight turn. Stiffness and strength are no problem with new long travel single crowns.
In my opinion, as more and more bikes make the switch to the vastly superior 1.5" headtube, triple crown (or double or whatever) will be on the way out. The only people using them will be downhill racers (maybe) and people who like the "moto" look of them. Other than a wider selection of long-travel forks at the moment, I can't think of any reason to use a triple over a single. My friend just put a Marz 66 on his Scream (to replace old Monsters) and loves it. He says they are as stiff if not stiffer than his old Monsters.

i have no regrets going from boxxer RACE to breakout + as well. the only thing i hate is when i crash and the handlebar goes 180 or more. it pulls on the derailleur cable and as a result broke my SRAM shifter that way. side load. it may not happen w/ a shimano shifter (better external design).
