View Full Version : Everyone needs at least 5 bikes.......

JdanS

that's right there is just no way around it. 5 bikes is the minimum...it's ok to have more but everyone needs these 5:

1)Single Crown/Hardtail for dirt jumping/urban
2)Double Crown/Hardtail for Urban/trails
3)Full suspension big travel bike for bombing, launching etc.
4)Full suspension Epic ride bike for those long hauls
5)Townie for getting to work and back

For bonus riding you could also get a BMX bike and maybe a single speed hardtail and if you really have to.... a road bike.

So there you have it! Minimum 5 bikes.. so lets get to it!

you forgot a dh race bike. an x/c race bike, a road bike, a track bike and a winter bike. i guess you could use your winter bike as a townie.:D

OMG.... I totally spaced on the race bikes!!!!

Maybe I should add a recumbant for when I want to lie down and ride?

Bike count is now at 13! I'm going to need a new rack!

JdanS, I like your thinking, I would turn the townie into a 24" BMX, and the F/S dual would be for DH and Big Urban ETC.
Oh hell, I put my thoughts down later.

I will soon have three bikes that will do it all.

BigHit for racing, hucking, big mountain epics.

Morphine for street, DJs, and trails where I dont want to ride the Big Hit.

Dented and cracked Specialized Enduro HT for commuting, XC and road.

weee!

Well, if I had the Moolah:
A Giant Team DH for that DH/big mountain riding bit
A Norco North Shore for those real big urban moments/Shore riding
Something like a Specialized Big Hit/Trek Liquid, etc. for Epic rides, where up and down count.
A Trek 5600 Road Bike
A Specilaized Epic for XC
A .243 with a Sherman DC for that fun stuff
and a 24" BMX for the heck of it.

This is all open to interpretation though, it all depends on everything...

We all need MORE bikes. This is a conclusion that I have come to over the years of only having 1 bike.

I wanna be like some golfer with a big bag of bikes to choose from and be able to pick the ride for the circumstances.

On top of that we all know how much fun bikes are... maybe if we all had more bikes we would all have more fun!

Hey!... does anyone have one of those bikes with the BIG ass front wheel and the little tiny back wheel? That would be awesome to get a pack of them cruising down the streets.

i'd say that you better own a road bike before you hit the 5-bike mark with 5 other bikes.

I still have a looooong way to go to fill my list (which seems to be growing!)

So far....

1)Medium fully (5"x5") Specialized FSR with Mr. T (GREAT fork!)
2)Mosh Bagley BMX (Thanks Gizmo!!!)

To be bought:

3)Big Fully (Scream or Big Hit/Shore)
4)HT single crown (.243 or Morphine or 440)
5)Road bike (but this is waaayyyy down on my list)

I would be so sweet to have the cash to just go out and buy them all.... sigh All in good time I guess.
