so i can sell my current bike. yay! not too sure why i want to but whatever new toys are fun. im looking to get something smaller ... adjustable up to 8" rear. good components ... saint/diabolis, torn between 888 or 66 ... will i die on a single crown? not too picky on bike manufacturer, but i want something kinda short, with a bit steeper angles. preferably a bolt on rear axle and good hubs/wheels. im looking to spend around 4000.

to clear it up im on a foes dhs mono w/ 888 so basically everything is smaller. but damn those new v10's are sick.

ps - color is not important.

thx
steve

It seems to me that a Banshee Scream could be what you want. So just to clear it up, are you looking at more of a freeride bike than a downhill race style bike?

How about those Devinci bikes? They seem to be pretty good. and of course there is the Demo8, though that's a pretty full-on DH rig still. I heard rumours aobut something called a Demo6. Anyone?

As far as the 66 vs the 888, I used to be fairly skeptical of the long single crowns until last week. I work at a bike manufacturer and one of our bikes came back after hitting a tree on a-line with the headtube torn of completely and the 66 was only bent back at the steerer and crown; it didn’t snap like I would have expected. Seeing that made me realize my fear of those forks just snapping off on a really hard hit is probably unreasonable. I'd say the 66 is a good choice for the kind of bike you are putting togethor if you don't mind the height, although it won't help you get steeper angles unless you wait for the lower 06 versions.

Edit: Also, as far as bikes... I think the Iron Horse 7 Point series is worth looking into. I've worked on a few of the Sundays, and if they are anything like those they are definately well engineered, well made bikes. If you get a complete they seem like a great deal too.

A great light and agile bikes are Woodbumbles by B1. I think Jeremy's is 37lbs all done up with a 7" single crown. That is a tight, fun bike.

umm that was me day dreaming.......... if they made a demo 6,i think hundreds of people would switch over to specialized.

Ive been thinking of doing something simalar this fall, im on a huge demo 9 with 888's right now and kinda would like something a little smaller, maybe with a 66 or new travis.

My first choice would be a pdc freeride frame with a travis sc, you can get it with a thru axle rear end too.

Didn't you ride a Fly in the past? Maybe I'm confused.

Go PDC Freeride. Good local content.
