Why does the coiler have two sets of holes to mount the rear shock near the bottom bracket? One set angles the bottom of the shock a little more towards the front of the bike, and the other angles it pretty much straight up and down, maybe a tiny bit towards the back of the bike.

One is liner, one is more progressive,

I believe that the front hole is the linear one.

sorry for the dumb question, but linear vs. progressive, what's the difference?

There's no such thing as a...wait, there are dumb questions. Yours isn't.

Progressive means that the suspension will resist more (become firmer) the closer it gets to it's maximum travel, making it hard to bottom out. Linear means that the suspension resists that same amount all of the way through it's travel - meaning that it will eat up bumps beautifully until you hit one big enough to use all of the travel - then *crunch*.

Because I'm a trail rider and don't do big hits where I need to worry about bottoming out, I use the linear position.

i believe gazz is correctI own one, and you are all correct.

I find the linear setting feels better if no big drops are performed.
