So my GF and I will be in Fernie this weekend for a wedding and plan to hit the Bike Park there...then we are off north through Banff, Canmore to Calgary. Any suggestions where to camp/ride on that route?

I've heard Invermere, maybe Panorama bike park, Canmore? It doesn't have to neccesarily be lift accessed either. We would also prefer non-epic XC stuff and also not crazy freeriding either, somewhere in the middle would be perfect.

Thanks! - Andrew

Mt. Fernie Provincial Park. My better half runs the place, so may I suggest you make a reservation at Discover Camping or you won't be able to fight the Albertan hordes off to get a campsite. There is some overflow camping to be had on the lawn right near the bottom of Dem Bones, depends what you're camping in? Or do you have a place to stay with the wedding party in Fernie? Who's gettin' hitched?

yo andrew - Fernie - that's the best place to camp.

Canmore- try Peter Lougheed provincial park or the Bow valley campground near the Little Elbow. If you want maps and stuff drop by and we will hook you up for all those areas. The trips are broken up into day stories so keep hitting home to navigate to other days.

thanks guys for the info! Well after sitting in traffic today for 3 1/2 hrs getting back to the shore I have no time to digest this. I'll check into things once we arrive in Fernie...can't wait to get outta the city!!!

Yup we have a hotel in Fernie for the weekend, then look to camp somewhere between there and Calgary where our friends are putting us up. THen off to the deepest Saskatchewan for a family reunion on the farm (no riding of course!).

phur-knee: some friends who live in Elkford are getting hitched in Fernie, should be good times!

Lee: thanks for the offer of coming by...if I was better organized that would have been great. Next time I'll get first hand from you road-trip pros!
