I was driving up to The Ranch to check it out at about 7:30 pm today, and I saw somebody riding down here (along the road)

http://www.nsmb.com/images/shore_news/sm_RANCH-024.jpg

At the bottom, there was a group of about 10 riders. I didn't catch a look at the guy's bike, but he did have dual crown forks.

Hopefully this won't turn into a problem before it opens.

I didn't get a good look at him, that was all I saw. I know it's not much, but it's still info.

Your an idiot. Lots of people care. Its not cool to poach trails, it wrecks things, and makes more work for the builders. Dont be so ignorant. That said...how do you know they were actually poaching it Scott, maybe theyre the builders testing it or something.

No Scott lots of dirt bikers have been riding it. It's putting some serious undo stress on the trail before it opens.

relax people....please relax.

I`m just saying that if you look at the big picture....is it really gonna make any difference?

PS.....do you know me?....`cause i will not call ANYONE an idiot on this site.......ever, it kinda turns things into a mud slinging thing-not cool.
People....i think we all need to realize that with the written word (like on these forums) it can be easy to take things a little to serious or the wrong way etc. I personally do my best to always assume that the other person doesn`t mean to offend....maybe just a little sarcasim-thats usually funny. That said....please tell me what they where doing that was wrecking the trails....if they where, then i am sorry...my bad! But if they where just riding and not doing any damage (which was not mentioned), then in the big picture it will not do anything, except maybe take away first run opps for someone else....ohh the humanity!!!

PEACE.....and cheers

When a trail isnt finished or done, riding it damages it, its not ready to be ridden yet, if everyone did that it would just contribute to erosion and wreck it before anyone gets to ride it, its sad that people cant wait till its finished, those people dont even respect their own sport.....pathetic.

The bike park trails aren't open yet because
a) they are not finished, so riding unpacked jumps which have been soaked to set kinda puts huge ruts in them hence making it difficult to finish building them.
b) The city of Kamloops hasn't finished signing the park for difficulty or libilty. This is a big concern for the city as they are shouldering all the liabilty and footing the bill for the park build. Having respect for the cities liabilty seems to be the right thing to do considering the amount of money and work they have put into the project.

I kind of assumed when I saw most of the people at the bottom looked about 14.

How about posting a couple signs at the trailhead telling why the trail is closed and why it is mandatory to stay off?

Or just get something, that needs to manhandled, blocking the start of the trail.

To my knowlage there are signs saying it is closed. I know there are at least down at the dirt jump part.

see now kids, when one of these afformentioned dirtbikers or "14 year old's" break an arm, or worse yet, suffer paralysis....imagine what is going to happen to that bike park.

Its plain as day, like black and white, if you ride unfinished trails/courses...prepare to suffer the consequences albeit some sort of police punishment, or a banning from the course.

I agree, stay off until the builders give you the go-ahead. As for the dirtbikers, there's more than enough places for them to ride without beating the crap out of mtb trail.

Feel free to "poach" that new stuff I built Jay. Actually, it's done but I won't get a chance to hit it this week. :(
