Okay I just can't get the hang of pulling a sweet nose manual. I can mannie like a dream on the rear wheel and even pull short nose manuals to pik 180s. But I don't seem to be able to hold a longer nose wheelie. I've also been trying to do the backwards nose manuals where you ride up a slope and manny coming down backwards. fauking hard as hell. feels weird at first, but sweet when it works. Any tips from the trials and street e-gods here? :)

I just say go really fast and lean forward abit. The faster you are going the farther you will go

that is almost impossible with a slack headtube angle, unless you are hella strong.

Well I have a 243 with a shiver sc so it's not too slack. I want to start using nose manuals on the trails and some skinnies and stuff to style it more. I manual logs and stunts, and I think it would be cool to throw some other style too. I can pedal kick lurch on logs and stuff too, but I'd like to pull some nose mannie piks with crank flips. I've seen some vids of Morley and he is the god of that kinda thing.

I have to use my front brake but I'd like to get more brakeless action going. I've seen some peeps do it and it looks like they are doing it totally brakeless, especially bmx street pimps.

No front brake is the way to go. It teaches you control and gives you mad street skillz.

have you seen my nose manuals john. thay seem too work fine on my dh team.
just grab your front break as hard as you can, then controle the pressuse to keep the rear end up. just try it alot and you'll get it.

i thought you meant you wanted to backward like ryan leech.
for nose mannies, i practice em but pulling a bunnyhop then pressing my brake, bend your arms to brace the impact.

I wanna do both. I love the backwards ones but they are so hard!

Nose manuals aka stoppies - with shocks it's a lot harder to get a long ride without brakes due to having such a slack head angle. So you have to learn to feather your brakes the best is to try going down a hill and breaking at high speeds, it also helps to be able to endo from here you can get a basic feeling as to how the bike will left and fall with your body transfer.
To do reverse nose manuals its best to find a steep hill or bank. Some find grass great to learn on as it wont hurt as much when you go over the bars. First you need to have endo's dialed, and then from there you use the endo on the hillto get you up past the balance point. This will cause the bike to roll down, if you feel like you are going over use your front brake to feather the bike while pusing a bit down with your feet. If it's a short steep hill then a front brake is not necessary.
In regards to head angles... I am using a 74 HA on my bike as it's very benificial for front end trickery and at the same time it helps for skinnies and other things.
In the end there is lots of stuff you can bring to the shore and natural riding around van, last year a few friends and I were rididng frome and we found some skinnies on some trail [oil can i think?] that were about 6' apart that were very fun to 180 from one side to the other. Lots of great ideas and variations up there on the shore, it's nice to see riders trying to mix it up on the natural. :D
cheers, ... hope that helps.
