I was wondering what kind of riding they have going at Mt.Washington????? I heard that they have really built alot of stuff the last year????We are taking a trip to whistler then to the island for a few days---- and i was wondering if its worth heading up there for a couple of days ---they have some cheap stay and ride pkgs going on.....how does the terrain compare with whistler---technical wise???Also does anyone recommend any other trails on the island an hour or so near victoria ???

If you're going to be in the area anyway, Mt. Washington is worth hitting. There are a decent number of runs, some very old school trails, and some new fun fast flowy stuff that is similar to Whistler. It's not nearly as groomed or smooth as Whistler, but it's still worth a lift pass. Lines are generally short, even on weekends, and there are 2 chairs accessing trails.

It's definately worth hitting Mt Washington. It is the closest thing to Whistler on the Island. You might also want to check out Cumberland and Prevost. Goto Dodge City Cycles in Cumberland for maps and info and Experience Cycling in Duncan for some directions. If you go on a weekend, the BCT provides shuttles for you in a big pimp van and the guy will show you all the trails.

Mount Washington is definetly worth hitting if your looking for good stuff on the island. The trails are mostly steep techy stuff, but last year they added trails that have more jumps and stunts.

O-Pho_SHO!

Mt Washington is so much funn!!! Spent a few days there last year and giggled like a school girl. Lots of fun...groovy trail, some serious steeps, technical and really rolly bermy fun. Riders are all without attitude, good lifts and it really is riding island styles! The staff are ALL about biking and it reflects on the experience. I thought that the apt/condo rentals were the best pricing I have ever seen and they were so nice. I am going back for VPS Fest in August and can't wait, might even try to get an extra day in :)

I went up there last year, and I had SO much fun. no, its not nearly as groomed as whistler, but thats what we have suspension for isnt it? Its really fun, you will find yourself grinning thw whole way down. I went on a weekday, and we saw a total of about 10 riders all day, walked right onto the lift each time, and the lift ticket was only about 20$. They were improving it alot last year too. When we were up there, darren berrecloth and jordy lunn were up working on the trails. I cant wait to go up there this year, as im sure theyve greatly improved everything. If your on the island, deff. go to mt washington.
