Word on the street is that the BC Cup DH at Apex might not happen this year, because of Red Bull Psychosis race falling on the same weekend. Race organisers fear they will lose too many competitors for Psychosis, and lose money.

But thats just a rumour.

I would rather race the BC cup cause I want points, with the cancelling of Hemlock losing another DH would suck, and I think they will keep at least the XC on...

The year I plan on doing the full circuit in the past 3 years, and... well I'm not one to jump the gun, but that would not be cool. Part of me racing this year is the World's at Sun Peaks and a new course at Apex.

Gary?

Same here, just got hooked up with a few companies and the first ones already done, if anyone from Apex is lurking, you will get a good turnout, no one from Van or the Island wants to drive to Golden.....I don't think....

nobody from van wants to drive to golden??? how do you think i feel about the bc cup races... i live in invemere and have to travel 10 hrs to get to all but 2 races, pano and sunpeaks. I think it would be a good idea for cycling bc to source out some other organizers so traveling the series is not such a marathon. ie; east /west series where you have to travel to at least one race out of your zone but need to race all the events in your zone. The finals would then bring it all together to decide the champ.

the golden weekend is going to be great, 10k prize money, big mountain and a chance to race the same course as the big riders.

Yeah, why don't they just find some people that will wade through a sea of bureaucratic bullshit to organize a huge event for racers who will whine no matter what, all while losing money. The only people making money at these events are the insurers.

Dude, why the sarcasm? I know all about the hassles of organizing a race but it is all worth it. no matter what sport or event you put on you will never please everyone. for every whiner at the races there is 10 people who will totally enjoy the work the organisers put in. This is the attitude which brings down the morale of the organizers, cycling bc officials and racers. Try being positive and see how the world looks.

Your right, my sarcasm was a little too thick. I'm trying to organize a poker ride right now and dealing with insurance is a nightmare, the city won't do it and cycling BC is too much money for a one day fun ride. Insurance companies are asking for a lot of money, especially when there has never been a precedent set regarding a rider sueing an organizer (according to my research, anyone know any different?). Too much red tape is taking the wind out of my sails to put on a simple event. I'm looking into doing it with no entry fee, no insurance, the prizes will be donated and there will be no head organizer.

You have to admit though that it's not as simple as getting "cycling bc to source out some other organizers". To put on any event you have to have a vision and really love what you do.

i agree, the insurance situation for any amatuer sports is going to kill non sanctioned events like yours. it is to bad because these types of events are the locals chance to meet new people in the area and probably the origin of most sanctioned races.
