Without a doubt this is my favorite run on whistler. Nice jumps with good air time. If you have never hit it, go for it. It is a pretty easy run. However, I was wondering the size of the biggest table on it. I think its the third one. Some guy was trying to tell me it was 50 feet. It is obviously not but im wondering if anyone has the true measurment.

I do know for a fact it's not 50 feet.......but that is a killer run, was better before angry pirate came out right by it.....now people actually know where it is and it's starting to get braking bumps......

The last jump is as big as you make, practically unlimited tranny. Some guys are going pretty close to 50.

Yeah, The last and third jump have pretty big tranny. I've seen someguy land all the way to the bottom of the tranny on the 5th one. But I still dont think its 50 feet.

that trail is awesome I like that on almost every jump you can go as big or as small as you want even though it's high-speed downhill. better than a-line (disregarding length of trail)?

i agree, super fun ...only wish it was the length of a-line

That trail is very nice. I agree with Ripper if it could only be longer. The only thing that sucks about it is if you do crabapple you miss the optional 2 big hips on a-line. (after the rollers)

05-26-2005, 11:25 PM
yeah you can go quite far on it. Hopefully theres not much braking bumps or else it would be come like aline. You barrely if not brake much if you want to actually make the jumps any ways.

^ That is not true. A guy did die on crab apple a few years ago but he went over the bars and landed on his head. I did the same thing a week before but landed on my back. When i heard the guy died i felt insanly lucky

i think you guys are talking about the same incident. i was there that day, and the accident also got caught on film as there was a tour group riding crabapple at the same time. it was a sobering day.

Here's a dose of reality. Couldn't let this go on any longer.
i also herd that he landed and his buddy was so close he rode over him.

Absolutely not true
the accident also got caught on film as there was a tour group riding crabapple at the same time
Also did not happen.

Rumours about trails are one thing, but lets keep in mind this was a real person who actually died. He did not get run over, and no one witnessed the accident.

Right on Clownshoe. If you don't have the facts, you should keep your mouth shut.

On Thursday August 8th, Allen Moore of Langley BC died after crashing at the Whistler Bike Park. Moore, 33, apparently crashed on the last jump of "Crabapple Hits", one of the hill's most popular trails. Moore's full face helmet was destroyed in the crash and he suffered severe trauma to his head and chest. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Allen's family and friends.

wrong..................the guy landed on his chest and face. I believe the force bruised his heart and also his face took a beating pretty badly. 2002 season is when it happened. Also I liked crabapple better before they did work on it

First off, I love this trail, one of the old school originals that still rocks. Props to DK, Marty, BT, and the rest of the trail crew for all of there awesome work on that trail and everywhere else in the park. The trail crew work like dogs day in and day out, sweating and labouring for our enjoyment! Keep it up boys and girls!

I don't want to start an e-battle here, but let me say this: I work for the Bike Patrol, and I was working for the Bike Patrol when this unfortunate accident happened. I wasn't on scene for the accident, but my co-workers were, and I'm guessing that the guys who did the first aid know what really happened.

uh yes it did. i was in the parking lot and the guy that shot the vid was showing other people. i couldn't watch it though.

I don't know where this nasty rumour came from, but IT IS NOT TRUE. The guy was found on the trail by the next people down the trail. If what you say is true then, how come they didn't stay and help? Are you telling me that these guys are riding on a green run, happen to point their camera at a big jump, film a guy absolutely eating S**T, and ride away without helping? Sounds inprobable at best.

was told about the run over part by one of the whistler blackcomb bike guides.

Absolute fiction. DID NOT HAPPEN. Again, it was unwitnessed. If someone ran over this guy, why did he leave the scene? Where was he when patrol showed up?

Short version: Guy hits big table. Guy wipes out hard. No one saw it. Patrol attended scene, BC ambulance service attended scene. He was taken to the Whistler Medical Clinic. He recieved the quickest and best first aid and medical attention possible. He didn't make it. End of sad story.

Rumours run rampant in the bike park. (see Freight train) Rumours run rampant in Whistler (I heard U2 was going to play the ski and snowboard festival, the mountain was going to close in February this year, and that Disney is going to buy the whole mountain). Rumours run rampant on the internet (self evident). Put these three together and this is what happens. Rumours about trail or lift openings are one thing. Arguments about who is the best rider, what is the best trail, or what is the size of drop X are another thing. Rumours about a REAL PERSON WHO ACTUALLY DIED are quite a different story. I love to read 10 pages about A-line or some other e-horse getting beaten to death, but I think this particularly morbid thread has gone far enough.

Don't believe me? Feel free to PM me, talk to me on the lift, or e mail me, but I think this should end here.
