I have never raced any Canada Cups before, but have raced plenty of BC cups. I was just wondering if you need to qualify for CC's or what the courses are compared to BC cup races?

Also, I would have to race Pro-Elite and place top 10 to get UCI points? Correct?

Thanks for the help.

You don't have to qualify to race - anyone can compete in CC's. They have full categories.

We have the best courses, for the most part, of anywhere in Canada. Quebec's a close 2nd. Not to mention, we also have the best race series in the BC Cup. That includes the CC (unless Henry Perjil can get his mitts on the controls).

Some races are sanctioned differently than others for points. I think for the most part, a top 10 will give you UCI points. Its quite a feat to get a top 10 in a CC. There's always a rediculous race in Onterible somewhere that will give out points to anybody who shows up. It seems we have tighter restrictions, yet the fastest riders. Weird.

There's your cue Gary.

I was reading the info about the CC at Fernie. Noticed there was no insurance information? Do they have one-day licences at CC's? Also, is it mandatory to pre-walk the course?

One day licence will be available at Fernie but remember you can only race sport cat at best with that (at any race). If you wanna be Expert or Elite, ya gotta earn it. That means buying a licence, starting at the bottom and working your way up with results.

Typically they have training sessions on the days before the race that get faster as you get closer to race day: sections permitted on Fri, continuous runs on Sat, full race conditions with no stops permitted during Sunday mandatory runs. This is what I generally try to enforce at BC Cups too. On Sunday most people want one final look at the course in its race condition and at close to race speed. It's way too late to be walking sections at that point. If you don't know your line by then, forget it.
