i didnt say they dont work im saying i would rather ride a splind spindle over taper..

yeah and while ive had square taper moutnain bike designed cranks fail, the like 3/4inch square shaft the primos use certainly makes them a bit stronger... i guess it would still be possible to round them as theres not as much surface area as a spline but i dont think its fair to compare primos to normal moutnain bike square drive cranks...

i myself wouldnt use them on a mountain bike sinply because of the weird id rather get saints. i have diabolus on my HT and am not completely satisfied becasue they are starting to creak... ive never heard of a saint crank squeaking though...

i wonder how truvatives new external bearingd crank setup will go...

the only benefit of square taper is the space for larger bearings. Do you remember how often people snapped spindles in the old days? Primo's cranks are not tapered by the way, it's a straight rounded square, much larger than square taper. The same holds true for RNC cranks which oddly enough are becoming rather popular with street bikers on the big wheels.

my profiles lasted less than a season. broke them off above the pedal threads...it was an impressive break too.

i called up profile and was told..."we will not warrenty it, that is abuse"...

im sorry, but profiles are designed for abuse...no? :)

it may have been a faulty product; who knows...but they didnt even want me to send them back so they could look at the break..they just wrote it off as "we dont care"...so meh..i wont support em and I try and share that with everyone who looks at profile.

I have profile SS and i love em to death but overkill for anything street. go deity. eric will hook u up warranty if anything bad happens. he is a rider of his own product he dont want bad things to happen to you.

go with deity. but im kinda bias. even tho i have profile SS on my pinkbike and it has lasted 2/3 years. and my deity on my black bike before stolen worked SEXY SMOOTH.

Plus who dosent wanna add some style to the bike with a powdercoat black or white :D

2 bearings taking the load on each side is also less stress on the bearings in the long run.

Agreed.

If you aren't hard on bearings and want to go CroMo get Profiles. If bearings are your number one concern and you want the best str-weight ratio around get Saints.

I have the Evolve X-types.

But if you're gonna street it, (sprocket stalls, grinds, etc.) I won't recommend X-type cause that might potentially fuck up the bearing cup crushing the bearings.
