Where's the nearest place to camp? Backcountry is cool but I would need to be able to leave the car somewhere overnight that is safe. A campground would be good cause a shower might be nice after a hot day of getting dusty at Whistler. Is there anywhere between Squamish and Pemberton?

There is a nice campsite 15 mins. south of town where they do the zip lines thing. On the east side of the highway across the train tracks. Where the Calcheak climbing area is.

theres tonns of camping between squish and pemby. basically any turn off will lead to a dope camping spot if you are willing to look. showers arent necessary when you can find a creek/river to get cleaned up in which are generally right beside where you are going to camp. its easy fun and cheap. camping rules. especially with a big bag of mush. hahaha

what nooner said, basically any turn off will lead to a wicked and free campsite. As long as you are cool with shitting in the woods, and washing down in ice cold water its all good, but getting the ladies into that might be a little tough. There is always parking lots near the swimming pool.

I'm taking the campervan up this weekend, but it's not equiped with a shower. Do I remember correctly that there are showers at rainbow park?

Thought I'd revive this thread as people will be asking about Whistler camping again soon.
Riverside is a good place to camp, and there's a little breakfast café on-site too.

The riverside campground in Whistler is great. We always camp there and all you need to do is lock you bikes to a picnic table and put a tarp over them, no one can see them.

Can anyone tell me if you can bike to the lifts from Riverside and if so how long the ride is? Thanks.

I was there at Riverside this weekend for a wedding and its a pretty sweet spot but its a bit far from the village. I think it was about a 10 minute drive so its not like its roll out of the tent and cross the street to the park close but its a pretty nice little campground.

jake , it'd be about a 10 -15 minute ride on flat valley trail or neighborhood streets . unless you really need to have it close by , leave the car at the campsite so you don't have to fuck with the parking .

I happen to live in the apartments in the main building at Riverside. This place is soo busy all the time its nuts. That wedding was pretty loud and my colleagues were thinking of crashing it, grabbing a drink, then telling ya'll to turn it down cause they had to work at 6am....funny stff.
Anyway, I advise calling ahead if you wanna stay here, especially if you have an RV, cause they go quick, the tent sites are a walk in only, which is kinda cool, no one starting up their car 20 feet from your tent in the morning. And when every site is taking, the parking lots fill up and tents start popping up all around the building.
One night the lawn spriklers turned on and 3 tents got blasted, had a laugh from my deck seeing people scramble to move.....
On my big bike I take my time and cruise to the hill, 15-20 minutes depending on how windy it is, I usually take Fitz Trail, a easy trail from Nancy Green way to the Vally trail near the Lorrimer underpass, then up to Lot 1....

You guys must have sensitive ears. We had beer flowing for sure but it was basically just a bunch of 30somethings with kids so it couldn't have been too loud. I think I was in bed by 11 which is just too crazy for a saturday night.
i just spent 9 days sleeping in my van parked in lot #4.

I wasn't bothered by it, but all they other guys places face out onto the lawn there, and the music carries pretty good cause of the blaconies....nice BBQ they had though....

10-15 mins. I know this because i did it all weekend long.
Riverside was a nice place to camp. I tented and just locked my bikes to a tree in the campsite. Worked out pretty well.

Riverside worked out well for us this weekend.
Dead quiet by about 11am. No TP in the shitter in the morning though.
That was devastating.
