So its been 3 months, I can finally cruise some single track. I have never had more of a smile on my face riding my bike. It has deffiantly refreshed me, and made me notice what this sport is all about again.
I can't really do any jumping for another 2 months but its just nice to be out on the bike cruising. Deffiantly messed it, was starting to go insane.

Shitty. I just augered mine, and although nothing's broken, I have almost no range of movement with it after 2 weeks. Shoulder injuries suck.

Range of motion is the hardest thing to get back with a shoulder since it moves in so many directions.
Tip for you, sleep on your back as well, it will heal faster.

Yeah? That's actually a problem for me, I usually sleep with my shoulders out of their sockets haha, on my face kinda. In the morning I can't move it at all, but after a shower and a bunch of streching it loosens up a little. It's pretty hard being a bike mechanic with only one working shoulder.
Thanks for the tip though, I'll try it tonight.

Awesome man.
When i broke my humorous 2 years ago i went crazy not riding, i remember the first time i was able to cruise around. I just went sprinting around town on a xc bike, total freedom, one of the best time i have had riding. Then i hit a curb not thinking and my arm had no strength and colasped and i crashed, i couldnt even hold my self up. lol.

I have a feeling that Giant would not like seeing a shot of a Giant-sponsored rider without the helmet straps done up.

Ok I am not even givin er, it may look like it cause the dust but ya. Ya ya I know it takes once but I was not even peddling just cruising down.
My skid lid is pointless anyways, my hard shell doesn't even stay in the plastic, nore does it offer that much protection to the forhead and face just like any half lid.
Giant, straps? Didn't see that when I signed? God why does everything turn into a huge topic on here. People care way to much.

but it protects your actual skull which contains your brain, which if knocked hard enough will turn you into a vegetable. If the helmet dosn't stay in the plastic, buy a new one, it's better than risking your ability to ride

Nice pics Steve:cool:
I'll throw down a comment just for the hell of it.
I'm 100% pro-helmet, fullface only, strap done up etc...
But one exception I have is while riding singletrack just as Steve has pictured. I do not and will not use a helmet while riding some of the supremely BUFF singletrack we have here....unless my Daughter can see me, then I don the lid. Example setting requires a no exception rule.
MOST of the stuff related to what we do and the content of this forum in general fits under the umbrela of "wear the lid...there is some chance you'll need it"........but if you are genuinly in asituation where the chance of you needing that lid is basically nil.....pfft.
That'll be the day you ever see me wearing a lid while I pedal for 3hrs on a double track dirt road...or on our buff single tracl like Steve pictured. (unless my Daughters lookin' ... )

The helmet strap issue is not dead. As a sponsored rider, your job is not only to ride your bike well, but its more about professionalism and conveying a positive message to the public. No matter if you're riding "buff" single track or riding to the store to get the latest issue of "Big'uns" magazine. Even if it is a small sacrifice for you, you don't want to influence youngs kids to not wear theirs either.
Face it, people look up to you because you are a good rider, and as a good sponsored rider, you have to set an example. It might work in BMX, it doesn't fly in MTB.

There are many young riders browsing these forums. Doing up your strap in photos posted for these viewers is setting an example.

Six years ago, I went on a guided bike ride down Whistler mountain for novice riders. It was mostly riding down dirt and gravel roads, and it seemed pretty harmless; however, about half way down the mountain on a gravel service road, I was sent flying over my handlebars. I landed on my head and then my shoulder, and slid about a metre. The damage: brutal road rash on all four limbs, and a fractured collarbone. There was a noticeable dent in my helmet from that crash. There was no obstacle that I hit, and I didn't suddenly pull on the front brake. It was just a freak accident. I'm glad I wasn't too "cool" for a helmet on that day.

No way did I imply I was too "cool" for a helmet. K to make everyone happy, I will just do it up all the time now, I will even wear my helmet to the local bike shop on the way down the street, I hope you do too, cause everyone always wears there helmet.....

I wear a helmet on my stationary bike cause you never no when the chain could go and you could fall or when there is a stress riser on the bar and it snaps and flys into a support girder with a minor fracture and the whole ceiling falls on your head.
