Im from the UK and im proud to be a brit. Hehe. I know you guys probably wouldnt know much about the scene over here but i guess you heard there is one. Over here freeriding and north shore etc are coming on in a huge way, in a country that i have to say not to be boasting or anthin has brought out some of the worlds finest riders. No doubt you have heard brit Grant "Chopper"Fielder who won the John Cowans Backyard Jam to take the title of worlds finest Dirt Jumper. And of course Steve Peat you have to be mad not to have heard of the #1 Down hiller. But our New shool riders are coming on amazingly. Gee Atherton who took 3rd in his first ever Redbull Rampage and Our UK allround freeride loony Chris Smith comming 10th in the Redbull Ride to the Lake. nominated for sickest trick by doing a 7meter drop on a 24" hardtail in the rain with semi slick tyres.
Anyway what are you guys opinions on the UK scene???

The UK does very well in most sports, for what it has available... riding is the same.
Of course the top riders don't stick to their local woods, most head abroad to bigger scenes to build on their skills.

Keep in mind mate, that some of us colonial folk do read Dirt, and MBUK. I know exactly who you're talking about. I'd like to say that the latest issue of MBUK, for us that is, has a full on North Shore section. The REAL north Shore that is, from right here in good ole British Coumbia. It focuses on:
Ryan Newman
Trevor Hansen
Barb Haley
Jerry Willows.

Hey UKflow, if you can, vote for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party (http://www.omrlp.com) next election.

It was kinda cool seeing pictures of the 'local' trails. in a 'foreign' mag.
I think that was the same issue that awarded 'Aston Hill' as UK trails of the year.
Lots of hard work has gone into that area, for a few years now, nice one Mr Warby. :)

There's a whole little harcore community of shore riders in the UK. They don't have the terrain, but they build stuff with what they have.
Herts Shore and the Jedi Council being the most homegrown and high end I think. From the vids I've seen and the pictures they've posted they have dialed up their skillsets big time.
They spend a ton of bucks renting out a section of land totally built to the nines with shore style stunts. They came out here last year for a tour with Smoke.
So it isn't even just big pro names, there's lots of regular guys (apparently also know as 'punters'?) that have caught the bug. I think Prawn who posts on here also rides with them.

Building "shore" stunts where they aren't needed is stupid. Britain has some amazing riders, but the best aspect of the Britain scene is dirtjumping.

the UK Dirt Jump scene is huge as ever, although two sets of well loved trails have been flattened this Winter, and the future of Wisley is still somewhat in the balance.
we've got legendary builder "Diggs" from Wisley building Esher Dirt park, its coming along okay, the wet weather's not been helping but his army of diggers are getting on with ti:

then the UK freeride scene, you've got the commercial parks like High Action (Bristol), Esher Shore (Surrey) both growing in scale and range of trails. we've been working to get the guidance written for elevated trails and commercial bike parks in the UK, following a couple of serious accidents last year in the UK.
esher images:

and the more hidden trails like Herts Shore and other secretive builders doing their own thing in the woods, trails popping up all over, lots of old bmx guys now in their 30's getting big bikes and reliving it all :D
