well this is kind of directed toward patrolskid, but feel free to contribute. approximately when will garbanzo open this season? will it open early or open late like it did last year? I want to know so I can plan my vacation when it's open. I know freight train opens in july, but I just would like to know when garbanzo itself first opens. thanks!

I'm guessing whenever the snow has been gone long enough that the trails have drained properly and they've been fixed up

Last year's Toonie kick-off was sweet...kegs and burgers!

I might bring my MinuteMan out...that will be fun. Knees-in-armpits here I come!

A toonie race is the cheapest dinner in town! Sometimes catered too!

There hasn't been a whole tonne of snow in the Garb area this winter anyway, so we don't really have to wait too long for the rest of it to melt.

As long as it stays nice and warm, rains alittle, not too cold at night and only the top will have any snow left. The sun smokes the trails over on Garb side so sooner then later I am assuming.

The ski outs are now closed, it's downloading time.

Garbo opening relies on a few variables like there being no skiing mid mountain, lift maintenance switching the chairs over and other maintenance so it's still realy hard to predict. But patrolskid might have a better idea if he talks to DK.

We should have a better idea of what's happening for the rest of the ski season on Monday.

Now that the ski outs are closed, it will be interesting to see if the higer ups within WB change their minds about the bike park opening date. We've lasted so long with poor snow conditions that they may have mistakenly thought that it would have kept on lasting, but with the warmer weather (AKA spring time) we're getting now, that obviously isn't going to happen. The present conditions would make you think it should be April 12th, not March 12th.

I wonder if some pressure from the biking community will make a difference to their decision, or will they refrain from opening the park any earlier just so that they can continue to pretend that the skiing is better than it is.

I can not imagine a scenario in which we have neither skiing to the valley OR the bike park open for 6-7 weeks, yet that's what it's looking like will happen.

Well the rumor mill continues. There has been mention that the bike park is going to open April 9th.

An official comuniction from the mountain should be out in the next few days.

Is it snowing down to the base or just up higher?

flurries in the valley as I type, nothing heavy but it looks like the freezing level is gonna head up to above mid-station...I don't expect that any snow we get in the valley will last long......one reason I heard the park won't open for at least 3 weeks or so is the fact that their retail and rental dept's aren't ready yet, and they won't open till they are.....

I'm not a snowwy mountain player so this question may sound retarded but what are said "ski outs"

Rexthespeedster

Ski outs are the major runs that bring people right down in to the village. There are only a few major runs at the bottom of each mountain, and they're now closed.
