I have a question concerning head tube ovalization problem. I run 170mm travel Marzocchi 66 on a Norco Torrent which has a 1 1/8 head tube diameter. I’ve heard that ovalization is an issue of running long travel SC forks with standard 1 1/8 headsets. 05’ Torrent frame is a burly one so is the headtube, (headtube walls must be over half a centimeter thick as norco guys say) but 66 is a huge fork so what are the chances of ovalization in this case? Is it normally covered by warranty? Is there any way to prevent it (running a tougher headset with deeper cups for instance)? Or maybe it’s just a myth or Answer’s marketing trick to promote 1.5 standard?

No easier to ovalize than a dual crown with the same travel. ;)

The 2005 Torrent comes stock with a 7 inch 66 and a deep cup FSA headset (according to the Norco site). If you ovalize the headset I assume it would be covered under warranty as this is the stock setup...

a 3" fork will ovalize a frame if not setup properly.
