So for some reason I can't remember...

Which side of the BB is english threaded? The right or the left?

Oh...english threads are 'backwards'.

I thought an english threaded BB had a different thread pitch?

anyway, the right hand (drive) side BB cup is left hand threaded (backwards)

Thanks slider...

I know Italian threaded ones are a different thread pitch, and they show up on really old road bikes. But as far as english threaded goes, I always thought it was just backwards. I could be wrong though.

Both sides are english. The left side has right hand thread and the right side is left hand thread. The drive side tightens on counter clockwise.

Italian is a larger diameter and both sides are right hand thread. i.e. go on like normal fasteners.

Then there is French but let's not go into that. Plus some funky new Pinarello giant sized ones. And there are a few other giant oversized out there. Pretty much any mountainbike will be english though.

Sweet...thanks.

I'll no longer think that English means backward!!

The Polish ones have a right hand thread bottom bracket and left hand thread shell.
