I just got a 2005 Sherman Flick Plus 150mm and also got a Firm spring installed. I can easily ride on it and push down and bottom the fork out to a point where I can feel it hit the bottom. I have the compression dialed all the way also. I really do not want to put a x-firm spring in it. I have a firm spring in my 2004 Slider Plus and feels fine. I did have a x-firm spring in the slider and it was way to stiff to a point where it felt like a rigid. Do you think it has something to do with the oil level?

Is there any air in the fork?
yeah sounds like your SPV chamber is empty...

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think it's to do with the damping systems in each fork.
The 03 Slider had TPC+, which had a wider range of compression adjust towrds the endstroke and the Slider + had of course SPV, which also has bottoming adjust. The 2004 and 2005 Flicks have only TPC in which the only way to tune endstroke compression is spring weight.
That may be why you could get away with the firm in the Slider and are bottoming the FLick

I had X-firm in my 2004 Slider and WAY to stiff. so I have a firm in the slider. As for my new 2005 Flick I put a firm in it. I will check the Oil level. Is there a way to stop the mechanical bottom out, like adding a few cc's of oil like in the Marz forks with HSCV

No there is not - that's one of the reasons why they developed TPC+

i think the shermans use 16cc of oil per leg, at least spv does...i dont know if you can ad air to the tpc but if you can thats my suggestion

you have a Flick. Where you able to mechanically bottom out your fork??

Yup......If I bounce up and down hard enough. It's pretty much as speed thing - a large force at low speeds will bottom it out, but on the trail this rarely happens.
Only noticeable when TRYING to bottom it.

Well I will check the oil in the fork. It shouldn't mechanically bottom out. I remember when I had a 03 Slider with TPC it would bottom out nicely when required. Does anyone elses Shermans with TPC bottom out mechanically????????

I've got an 05 Flick and had the same problem you are having. It bottomed out really easily just after servicing. It was the oil level. But could I find the proper oil level in my manual no, so I just added a little more and it was fixed. Now, whether I have the proper amount in my fork or a little extra, I couldn't tell you.

Yeah, it's eaither the oil level or you may just be in between spring weights like me....in which case it's the TPC damping that's at fault.
Your Slider didn't bottom because it had TPC+ so comparing the spring weights needed for either fork is sorta like comparing apples and oranges.

I have the same Flick+ right now. I put in a firm spring and a little extra oil in the compression leg and no probs. I'm 205lbs.

Explain how you increase the oil level please. Can you explain in dumb terms so i understand? Thanks

yeah, my 05 slider plus bottoms out very easily...i did not check the oil level and its a stock spring...i guess i should check the oil first and then go for a stiffer spring..yes?
help putty, he needs it.

really easy, amigo.
1 - undo small screw of the compression knob, remove knob
2 - use a 20mm socket and unscrew stancion top cap
3 - add about 15 or 20cc of oil. manitou uses synthetic oil
4 - put cap back on, giver a spin
The other leg is a dry leg - there is only a tiny amount of oil in it to keep the seals all good. If it needs some more oil, you know what to do.

putty needs more air in his SPV ASAP! by the sounds of it. I ran mine sans-air for like, 2 or 3 rides, and managed to blow some stuff out. It made it so my forks "platform" was very noticeable.
This was on a brand new 2004 slider with the 2005 SPV Evolve upgrade.

ok i just came from the LBS. Here is what the problem was;
The spring said firm on the bag it came in but wasn't the firm spring. They have to re-order a firm spring in but will take about 5 days cause it is coming from the east coast. OGC in Vancouver has none:(

i thought there was oil in both legs...they say 16cc, but if you bought the fork new, and dont know how much oil is in there, how would I measure it? or do I just keep adding slowly until i notice it get hard (the fork you pervs)?
thanks in advance...also it says 5w30 fork oil..does the lbs have that?
thanks again in advance.
the forks has air in it, i saw the dude pump it up in front of me.
i think its just low on oil, dont they come low from the factory?
