Im gonna guess you're talking to Danger about one of his?
I almost bought one. IMO - it is still one of the nicest frames out there. Period. Its meant to go fast.

You can still FR a DH bike, they are longer so tight corners are a little trickier and tight skinies will take a bit more skill, but other than that the descent is awsome. the steeper angles of a DH bike work really well on North Shore trails. I had a Bullit and now I ride a Stab Primo and am lovin it. You won't find a better frame for that price.

I owned a DH4 (from way back in '98) and it was an awsome frame. it only had 4" of travel, but if felt deep, had no issues with braking(floating brake) or suspension induced pedal motion and was just an all around great bike. If the DH4 is any indication of the DH9 (which I would think it is, the design was just refined over the years), I'd say go for it.

Well. They are a small if I remember right. I had a small stab primo for comparison sake and I free rode the crap outta it. The shorter wheelbase of a small will make it a little better on logs and woodwork while still being a great in the corners. Just run dual 26" to keep the intended geometry the same.
Honestly, I say go for it. He managed to freeride his quite well (despite him being Danger) so get him to level with you about issue's.
But, are you going to huck like Danger would?
If not, then this bike should hold up to what you want.
And besides, its a freakin YETI :thepimp:

it's super high quality and super beefy. It's long and big and fast. think high speed ripping through the rough bike. I only know one guy who rides one, he loves it. its super stiff and beefy, i wouldn't think it would be the great shore bike, like in the tight stuff and super slow techy stuff i dont know how it would ride. but super t and dangerous dan don't have trouble on yetis.

A buddy of mine had one last year, he rode the shore on it all the time. It is a little long for some of the tight skinny turns, you need to be able to wheel hop, but a wickedly fast bike and super durable.
As far as weight goes, I beleive the frame and shock is around 11lbs, but I am not positive on that.
If you are looking for a more all-around freeride bike for the shore, the Yeti ASX would be a better choice, but the DH9 will rock in Whistler.
PS, the DH9 retailed for around $3900.
