Anyone involved in the Spoke race series this year?

My son will be racing with the Walnut grove team; I'll be a marshall.

This will be the first year for either of us to be involved - any advice?

your starting position depends on what overall place you are in after the previous races. THe first race is the only one where you can choose where you start, so tell him to get near the front and work his ass off in that race if he wants a good start spot in future races. My only other advice (I've raced in Spoke sence '99) is to watch out for the stinging nettles at the Aldor Arces race. I have hit them the last 2 years out there and on the trail day out there last year. If you haven't got them before it can be a real suprise.

Pretty much what he said. Get the seed early and let in go from there.

I dont know whether I'll be in heavy w/ 42 lb dually or regular with a 33 lb HT if it ever gets built back up. With ProPedal the dually isnt that bad....

Farmer, have any meetings happened other than jerseys for TFSS? Who are you anyways. Add me to msn, alextn@telus.net

Thank for the input guys. Cam (my kid) was out at Aldor acres on Saturday for the trail day and got the trails all cleaned up.

I'll tell him to pour on the coal early in the race sohe gets a good starting position in later races.

He'll be riding my old bike - a 2000 Specialized Enduro Sport @ 31 lbs. Should do better than his 40lb Sasquatch.

I might help out as a Sweep or Marshall. I might be in the Relay race. :P

I'm doing the relay solo this year, tired of people slowing me down. Last year one guy did it solo and came in like 4th or 5th

Well, the first race went off great. Farmer and ATN: your advice was heeded. Cam came in first in the grade 8/9 race.
Next race tomorrow at buntzen lake.

If any of you were there: got pics? I left my camera at home.

You probably saw me, I did sweep for every race. Green Big bike that went bzzzzzzzzz....

I doubt I'll be able to make it out tommorrow, plus buntzen isn't a course I really wanna sweep...:P

I didn't race, I don't see Farmer in the results either?

We lost both our MTB teachers this year, Terry Fox was not organized so we did a jersey order and thats it.

Congrats to your son stillgoing.

Yeah, i am racing spoke in the gr. 9 series. it's supa fun. for some advice i'd say to spray bug reppelent on your self when you go to buntzen. freakin mosquitoes everywhere, i swallowed a few. at this point i am 10th overall. not bad for my first year racing

So - did you race today? How'd you do?

My kid was 1st in grade 8. Too bad he DNF'd the buntzen lake, he would have had a good chance overall. Damn'd chain.

You get one free race usually, they drop the worst result.
