Who's going? It's on April 30th.
It was a blast last year. The most laid back race I've ever done. Fun little punchy course too. A good race to start the year off.
We went over for the day, raced, then rode around on some of the local trails. Going to do the same this year.
They only have a limit of 80 riders total for the DH, so sign up fast.
Are you in Gary?

Roberts Creek. Take the 40 minute Langdale ferry to the Sunshine Coast, then about a 20 minute (?) drive from there.
I'm going over with Kyle the Guay and Jason Retard Winters.

He's doing that because he's po' ass.
... no really he owns 4 god damn hardtails. Why would he need to bring any more than 1?
and it doesn't seem to matter what bike he rides, he'll go just as fast

I don't even know if it woulda been 1st for people the same age as me..probly wasn't lol.
Of course, I have NO style when i'm going that fast. I just held on and pedalled as fast as I could uphill and downhill.
you shoulda seen me hit the tree right after pedalling down one of the long steep down sections. from 50 to 0 in less than a second hehe.
ugh.

there is something oxymoronic about the ratrace course and you saying "long steep down sections"
Uncle Duke
03-17-2005, 07:32 AM
yea its not a dh course like others you have seen, more like a high speed single track downhill winding thru the trees, it has some sweet berms and some jumps...def. very fun rip and a wicked wknd event.

the only guy who will beat that time even out of the pros is ashek...he is raw untapped unknown talent..right now I bet he will win the entire event w a time of under 3:10..that is if he chooses to race , but like gerry s in that wicked episode he may choose not to race....too pure

If it's dry the course will probably be faster than last year as berms have been reworked. If it's wet times may be slower due to more exposed roots.
Anybody who is interested in doing any work on the DH trail in the next three weeks can PM me. I can get out weekdays but not weekends.
Work party on the XC course Sunday April 10th. Meet 10AM at the gumboot.

its rite between the first and second road you cross, just after the little drop, then a burm then u hit the bridge over the mud pit, its rite there, and its REALLY hard to stop for, anywayse i put up a log on the side of a tree crossing part of the trail on the straight stretch before it so hopefully everybody will see it

i think the link to the race info is on the first page of this thread
where do you register? at the race? online or what? how much does it cost to?. what time does the race start anyways?. i gotta work at 7 and i really want to race. that course is amazing.
There will be on site registration at the horse corral on B&K under the powerlines (follow the signs) from, hm, 6-8 on Friday and 8-9:30 on Saturday for the DH. Online reg ends today at 6, so you're better off registering in person. I believe it's $45 entry, plus a one event membership if you don't have one. Check the web site for more info.

Anyone want to show a couple of old guys the local trails after the race?
I'd like to hit a few of the "must ride" trails before heading back to Vancouver.

course is in very nice shape so it is possible to see some record breaking times.

Well I guess I am the first one home after a sweet day at Roberts Creek, amazing trail well done to the trail builders, and the trail crew who got it in shape for the race, both and rough at the same time, nice flow, sweet ass berms, some air, a good BC course. If anyone has done Bear its a little similar, but still really fun, thanks to the orginizers and vollie's see you next year for sure. Fastest time was 3:05 I think.....

Can't remember them all off the top of my head - I missed a lot of the results while I was doing check-in for the xc. Bryon Enns was second in Master Expert, can't remember who won, sorry. Graham Beatty was 2nd in pro. I think Tanya said the results would go up on their website when they had it all sorted. The volunteers did an awesome job, everything went off without a hitch. Pretty cool to have some Olympians racing the xc too. They signed some posters and a jersey for the kids.

Did you do your race run in vasoline, tight spandex and an unzipped jersey?
Well then, don't complain. Everyone knows cameras love spandex.
