Well, I did a little deal with my old fork for a new one and some cash. I think I made the right choice! (sorry for bad pictures, taken at night!)

im guessing the super is your new fork. good choice. those monsters are tanks. they are stupidly large and heavy.

I dont usually go out of my way to criticise other peoples bikes, but 24 rears look so wrong on bullits (IN MY OPPINION)

Monsters are one of the dumbest forks ever. good on ya, but i also say get ride of the 24" wheel. It was a trend that was kinda dumb on mountain bikes made for MOUNTAINS. on a street bike sure. but rear 24 is kinda pointless. I dont want to hear about manual ability. lean back 2" further and your problem is solved.

i like a 24 " better, Im also one of the few people that can say that also. I rode an entire season on a 1999 santacruz heckler with dual 26" wheels (double track rear, mammoth front) and i laid it down on whistler at least once a week. but when i got a brodie devo, i found the 24 inch rear made me feel much more stable on the bike, more in control. I cant do a manual anyway so i dont care about that, but i do find a 24" rear is more manuverable for a freeride bike. But for anything else (XC, All Mountain types..) dual 26 will always be my choice.

old monsters were better but new ones not so much

Well I think your Bullit looks just fine w/ a monster. I've got a 02 t3 on mine present 02 and when I finish my new frame (04 bullit, the 02 getting a Z1, it deserves an easier life now)

IMO there are 2 types of monster T riders...the ones who need it because they're launching huge, and the ones like me who just need it. It leads... I follow and it saves my ass when I don't :thepimp:

Out of the four super T's (triples) on this island, not one has cracked. The other three riders regularly are doing 20'+ gaps and 12-16' drops. That's the first I've heard of a cracking prob. I've heard of some 888's cracking though...:???:

trust me, it's only a matter of time - if they're with the silver m-arch, then check near the inside of the fork legs next to the m - mine had a miniscule crack, and i dont go big :S i'm blaming diggs...lol

<edit> these are the 02's i'm talking about, with the separate m-arch/legs

I'll admit, not the cheapest prices in town (but they are reasonable compared to caps and blak dogs), but I like the service there.

you like their service so you have their name emblazoned on your whole downtube? i was just going to ask if you were a team rider or something.

i agree that the 24 inch rear wheel looks weird. i rode a 24 on my hardtail for awhile and it totally sucked for mountain riding. but hey that looks like a dh machine and whatever floats your boat man.

24" wheels are the fastest.

You actually only have to lean back 1" further, as that's the difference in the radius :nerd:

Yes, the 01's cracked like mofos.

But the 02's onward are fine apparently. Never heard of an 02 cracking before. :???:

I should stop trying to write things late at night...I started off
saying how the Monster T looked good on a Bullit (I am biased;-),
I then wrote Super T. I used to have a super t on my bike with
one piece lower (no problems).

I started getting myself confused reading the replies because I
didn't think the MONSTER T came with anything other than three
piece lower ('M' arch). The only thing that I have seen about
the Monster T (except it's a pain to push up hill), si my friend had
a problem with the integrated stem was putting so much torque
on the upper clamp that it was making his headset come loose
a lot. He stripped the center bolt so he's getting a 888

I'm thinking when that happens to me I'm getting the DH40 :thepimp:

So, is it the super t or the monster t you guys are saying cracks???

peace

super t - i think actually it's the supert pro. both myself and a buddy of mine cracked one. silver with red stickers (and it's definitely an 02).

man was i ever pissed to see that little crack :( - part of me wanted to keep riding the damn thing - but i kind of like my teeth

if there had been any way to replace the arch, i would have been all over it - i loved that fork - i got crash replacement to an 04 jr t, which i'm now trying to flog :S

Hibullit [i'm not even go to try to do the caps/no caps] - mine cracked on the side of the m-arch closest to the fork leg, right at the base of the m

I'm trying to Flog my 03 Jr T, but no one wants them any more.

I rode the hell out of my 02 Jr T and had little tiny cracks in them, but I killed the stantions and the seals in a bike ejection from moving truck trick. So the upgrade was good for me!

haha i killed an 01 jr t too and got an 04 jr t
the 04's are better for tire clearance - i run a 2.8 michy in mine, i dont think you can do that with the 03's

I'll let him know to look close or use my crack check fluid. If you knew how backwards my island is you'd know my bikeshop only knows campy and 'some' XC, although they did do a great wheel build for me (6 months still true!).

There's only like 10 DH/FR's on this rock and only two of us ride regularly (4-5 X wk) so we don't get much info except from folks like you.

I'm building up an 04 bullit I'll post pics as soon as the humidity goes below 80% so I can spray clear coat :(

peace

ya, it has two minisized cracks in the arch. But they are around 3 mm long and the cracked along a part of the metal which is only around 1 mm thick. Im not too concerned. I also dont do 20 foot hucks, everything i do is to a smooth tranny. Thats why the monsters were over kill for me.

At least i dont have a boxxer.

whoever was wondering bout the sticker on my downtube. it says

AKA The Bike Shop.

It was on the bike when i got it and i liked the look, so i told them to keep it on. Its also nice to support your local shop by becoming a moving advertisement around town and on the mountain.
