at least that is what you would think if you saw the crowds of peeps parked in the upper lot. Was hiking Seymour today and saw a group of at least 6 guys at the CBC exit and at the parking lot there was 4 car loads of guys gearing up.

There is either alot of guys that can't read or they just don't honour the closure. With this many people riding cbc, might as well take down the signs.

With all that said, does anyone know when the huckwagon rides again.

Is the entrance blocked off at all? Snowfencing and caution tape might help. What if all the stunts were to be blocked off and made unrideable? That might discourage poachers from future poaching. One day of nailing in a few gates and such on a bunch of the bridges might be worth the result, if this closure is planned to be going on for another couple months.

well those boys were in for quite a surprise cause Jeremy was up there today working. Oh to see the look on their faces when they realised they were now his personal rock biatches :D

unfortunatly Jermy is not the police. He has no authority to do anything. Its shitty that ppl are riding it when its closed and all. But its like that almost everyday...go check out that parking lot everyday this week and there will be cars there. It wont stop unless there is someone to police the entrance.

id like to see people ticketed for riding it while its closed. have someone at the bottom of CBC giving out $100 tickets would stop the poachers pretty quick i think.

:( why is it so hard to stay off a closed trail. ride somewhere else.

I like the nailing of obstructions onto the stunts. Better yet screw them in. I'd volunteer for that with a cordless drill

If you knowingly poach a trail, then meet the trail builder halfway down and he asks you nicely to pack some rocks, are you gonna say no?

Placing lockable gates at intervals down the trail might be a fix. Just before junctions, or ladders where there is no way to ride around.

I am sure gates could be easily made. Give Jer the key to all the locks and he can be the go to guy to open and close the trail on behalf of the LSCR or who ever.

Even if people ride it, they will have to get off the bike, carry it over or around the gate and try to get going again. if there were enough of them, it would be a pain in the ass. They can also not claim "I didn't see the sign"

Think of a gate on the big Log ride...that would be an awesome place to put one, no where to go.

thats a good idea except for the fact people will still ride it and will just trample around the gates and create more trail damage. then soon it will just be paths to ride around the gates.

^^yeah it wouldnt work. Almost every stunt on that trail has an alternative way around it...and if there isnt an alternative way around it, one will be formed.

just a suggestion.

maybe make a sign explaining why CBC is closed. im sure people just ride it because they are only aware of the fact you shouldnt ride it during and after rain. hopefully if it is explained to them then they will be less inclined to ride CBC and go somewhere else for now.

why not put the [sign in the middle of the trail head as oppose off to the side.

If I don't work next saturday I am actually willing to go sit at the top of the trail with some peeps and something to do to just tell people to go ride the road down. as long as i get a ride up.

I've noticed that the people that poach CBC don't care. Even if the sign was ten times bigger, they will ignore it. They've come all the way from who knows where and they aren't going to turn around because of a stupid CLOSED sign.

Most riders that poach, aren't part of this community anyways. Those that keep up on what goes on here know better. The only thing that will deter poachers is a good dose of rock bitch work. If they don't like it, then they won't come back. And if they do like it, then they are always welcome to come back to do more work of coarse.

Nobody can stop people from poaching, but we can take advantage of thier igorance by asking them to do a little work while they are already here.

So go ahead, poach CBC. But be prepared to do at least half an hours of rock piling before finishing your ride. Voluntary bitch work will be the price of your admission. No rain checks, no cheating please! It will be on an honour system.

For those of you that do cheat, you will be pleaged by the fleas of a thousand rabid dogs and your daughters will be curse with excessive facial hair.;)

CBC is still officially CLOSED.

I originally thought it would be cool to sit at the trailhead and tell people to get lost, but truth is, if you've got a few hours to burn it would be better served down the trail helping out.

it's actually a great opportunity. what would be cool is to sit there and let people know:

1. why the trail is closed
2. who the nsmba is and what we do
3. why it is important to support the nsmba re: the current issues
4. if they proceed to ride the trail they will be stopped and asked to help with trailwork for 15-20 minutes

lets do it, but lets sit inside, so we can catch em red handed.

I would rather be in a group, in case things got heated.

Load up the digi cams and lets start the wall of shame.

I wouldn't do it on behalf of the NSMBA though as it could cause negative ripples....

just a bunch of concerned riders.

Fines that are donated to the NSMBA would be sweet but very hard to enforce.

Maybe start by getting them to buy memberships.

i have mon. and tues. off and i have a digi cam. if anyone wants to head up tomo i'm up for some lounging at the trailhead. by all means i don't want to just tell ppl to piss off, just to explain why it's closed etc etc.

Is that cool?

A friend of mine Poached CBC on Saturday (or so I'm told). He's the nicest guy you'll ever meet; really good with his kids, and always ready to help a guy out. But, he also strips down buck naked after a ride to change on the side of the road, and poaches CBC.

I just don't get it.

Whatever happened to good old bike confiscation? I've heard this is done in the US. According to britishcolumbia.com. it can also done in BC Provincial Parks:

http://www.britishcolumbia.com/Recreation/vcm/nshore/mntnbiking/index.asp

"Mountain biking elsewhere in the park is illegal (rigorously enforced). Expect fines or bike confiscation (as well as scorn and ridicule from park authorities) if caught. "

The bikes could be auctioned or raffled off with proceeds going to trail repair and maintainance. D.

When will CBC likely be open?

you'd find that out if you came out to one of the cbc trails days
the more people working the faster it's open

When I was riding up to the Corkscrew trailhead, some guys in a truck with bikes asked me if CBC was really closed. When I told them "yeah it is really closed", they seemed shocked. They continued up the hill past the Mushroom Lot but that might have been just to turn around.

Maybe there is some misinformation out there that the signs are bogus. But then again they might just have been from out of town.

True. But does anyone have a recent update they want to share?

I know it would be a bitch to get stopped like this, but what about putting thumb tacks scattered at the entrance to the trail. That would stop them for sure. And when the trail reopens, go by with a magnet broom.

...just a thought...
