Nah, my 6 way blew out on me 3 times last season. If this one blows out on me, Ill be getting a Romic or a DHX 5.0, both are pretty cheap.

P.s. Those are XT rotors.

Actually the back is on normal, tread and direction are fine. The Fron tire direction arrow is preoper. But the tread leads me to belive that michy screwed up the directional arrows, cause the knobs definatley don't bite.

We shuttled seymour tonight, did corkscrew, pingu, pangor, slash, empress, and the bike was great. I set it to 7" today at work, and the angles work much better. Im pretty happy with the build, once the brakes broke in, they were amazing....

:)

Wayne P
03-06-2005, 11:38 PM
The back is set up for climbing traction and not for braking traction. Switch it out and you'll notice it in the corners and down the steeps. The front is definitely backwards hence the no bite. Michelin's arrows are not always the most relaible.:)

Climbing traction is what I want on my back, it also helps power out of corners....

The front is definatley backwards, but the arrow mislead me when I installed it. Its gonna be a bit of a pain though, since its ghetto tubeless right now...Ill do it when I got a sec.

Very nice Nelson. Sweet!

So you like the geo when you lowered the BB and ended up with 7" rear travel...how about lifting the front with more travel and lifting the BB? Everything would be the same (HA)...just a higher bike though...

I ran my bike at 8.5" all last season, but I like the feel of the 7" in the corners. You definatley notice the lower bb when rolling stuff though. I'll have to play around with it...

Go the 8-flat-8 built up yet?

You got the cane creek headset? That thing adds an inch in ride height, plus the rise of your stem, spacers and bars. I'm running my 66 at 7" with a zero stack headset, zero degree stem, 2 inch risers, and two 1cm spacers, and the bike feels good. The 2004 frames were designed around a tall fork like the 888, so keep that in mind.

03-08-2005, 12:42 AM
I'll definitely clock a few miles on it before I decide to lower it or not and also HOW I'll lower it.
If I want to keep the geometry as is...I'll just lower the hand position via a flat bar and/or fooling with headsets and stems etc.

If I want to steepen the HA aswell as lower the hand position...I'll just pop for the Risse crowns.

I just had a look at your pics again....no shit the headset makes a huge difference!
So which heaset should I be looking at for a zero stack?

I wouldnt bother getting a zero stack headset, mine is pretty crummy so far, and its not really sealed. When mine craps out i'm gonna get reducer cups, and a nice 1"1/8 headset, as the reducer cups are recessed, the stack heigh is almost nil.

Wayne P
03-08-2005, 10:55 AM
One other thing to note, Evil components make reducer cups for 1.5" to 1.175" that are offset by a half degree. Meaning you can slacken or steepen your head angle on the Devinci's. Plus you can then use a better, regular size headset (ie: CK).

Loopie

^Thx for the link Wayne.
I don't see any mention about an offset though. Just the fact that they are a lower stack height, which in itself "adjusts" the HA.
