View Full Version : Gap to skinny?

Hello All;

I was wondering if there are any pics out there of people riding a gap to skinny stunt.

Is it done in biking? I've never seen one live, but in the snowpark the other day I got to thinking...why should snowboarders and skiers have all the fun?

I think it'd be a whole lot harder on a bike, but it'd be sweet. Imagine: Suicide-to-manual-on-skinny!

!

because they have a larger area to land on with their boards and skies...tires only have like 2" of possibly grab per wheel...if that makes sense

theres a bunch of trails with gaps onto bridges and logs. there was a piece of metal in whistler last year set up for crank works it was cool for manuals and nosebonking.

Looks super fun...

Do you think it'd be possible to make something like that bigger, and do something like a no footer onto it?

I bet alot of rotors get bent on that stunt...

to answer your questions, yes i'd imagine it would be within the structural and engineering capabilities of mankind to build a similar, larger stunt. i'd also wager it would be possible for a talented ride to come up and do some fantastic aerial stunts and land safely on the elevated, skinny portion, and safely extricate themselves from their temporarily increased potential energy by 'airing' it off the end.

however, id imagine that, yes it would probably be pushing a few limits, depending on the manual dexterity of the bicycle rider, and structural or metallurgical failure of the bicycle may come into play if the manuever is not executed within an acceptable margin of error.

i remember way back when simmons came here for a demo thing, he was going off this little kicker and hipping it onto a 2x4 skinny.. twas a pretty cool line. it would be pretty cool to see someone build something like what you're talking about, sure would make for some awesome sessions

are we talking skinny, or ladder?, cause there is nothing skinny about a 30 cm wide ladder. I think it would be really tough to gap (decent size)onto something >30 cm

Skinny.

I think a sweet video segment would have some pro going absolutely HUGE, and then sticking it on a 5" skinny.

I got to thinking about it watching good snowboarders in the park. They go huge, then land on the rail. Granted, it's easier on a board, but still I think the idea would be sweet.

Imagine an idea that likes other ideas of the same sex and wants to fornicate with them, move in and then be joined in a civil or traditional religious union with them.

Insulting something by calling it gay is no better than saying it was a black idea or a chinese idea or a Jewish, Catholic, Irish, Yankee or Indian idea.

im pretty sure everyone on here understands that when jordan says "gay" its simply slang and has nothing to do with the actual meaning.

Yeah, I agree! In our neighbourhood, we call people niggers, spics, wops, fags, and lesbos... cause we know the person we're calling those names isn't the meaning of the term we use, so it's not hurting anyone!

Nobody's negatively affected by that, are they? Surely not...

I'm pretty sure it doesn't subconciously affect people's viewpoints of those groups I mentioned either...

wow, im just surprised at how many people can over-analyze such a simple statement. dont tell me u have never heard someone use it out of contect as shown here. just relax , we are talking about a skinee here i dont think any "skinees" will take offense from this statement.

Dude, if you still don't get it after that last statement, then you really have no clue, do you?

Just TRY to think about it for a little bit...

I think you are fooling yourself. You may not be specifically referring to someone or you may not mean it to be offensive but that doesn't stop it from being offensive.

It is crystal clear that using gay as a derogatory term stems from the fact that gay is a term used to refer to homosexuals. In our macho bullshit forked up culture it is taboo to do anything that might associate you with homosexuality - particularly in some circles. Think about the way you dress, the way you speak and the way you interract with your friends and even the music you listen to. Do you avoid doing things that would have you associated with gay men?

Do you think it's an insult if someone calls you gay? Would you be offended or angry? Imagine it was your school teacher saying it for example - in front of the whole class. If you say that wouldn't bother you then you are probably lying which means the statement above is also a lie.

The fact that it has become part of the popular lexicon makes it more offensive rather than less.

I am relaxed. Our language makes us who we are and gives everything context. It is who we are.

Cool
I agree with you 100% on the gay thing. Teens these days use it to describe anything that they think is uncool. if i had a nickle for everytime i caught my little bro using it imy bike would be a hell of alot nicer...
