midrange rear hubs

my shimano deore has really rough bearings, when i spin it off the bike, i can easily feel the axle try to turn and jerk in my hands. can i just get some new bearings and keep riding it for now?

Repack the bearings, and adjust the cones properly.

If you need new bearings, they don't cost very much (probably less than $5).
