I can get the 03 or the 04 from Pricepoint, which do you recommend? I hear that there's no rebound adjust on the 04, or something of that nature? My bike has 6" of Fox Vanilla travel, so either one would match that better than the 4" or so of the Psylo on it now.

04 offers more tire clearnace and adjustable crowns.

i'd go that route...

i beleive Jr-T have internal rebound adjustment... while a pain in the ass, it is still do-able...

I believe the '03 did have an internal rebound adjustment and ext. preload, and the '04 only had ext. preload.
If it were me, I'd choose the '03, unless you want to run a BIG tire, or you are stuck on the black stantions .

the 03 crowns cracked realy easy! Both do not have external rebound adjusters... I would recommend the 04's

Nope. I have the 04, no internal rebound.

it feels like shit out of the box, I'd suggest swapping the oil right away, throw in some 10 or 15 weight oil, 250cl each leg.

I have the 04
I like it. It feels good. I got heavier oil put in it though.
the black crowns and stanchions and logos look pimp.

have you considered the boxxers they're selling for the same price?

probably a better whistler fork than the junior given the junior's low-tech damping. and they're _adjustable_.

+$100 for the team and the ability to tune high speed/low speed compression.

seems like the better deal to me.

Tough choice.

The 04 has the advantage of being able to run a wider tire, as well as having an adjustable lower crown.

The 03 has better valving and rebound adjustment.

So you need to decide whether you need to run a big tire, or you need better high speed valving.

Thanks for the thoughts, I guess I have more to consider than I thought. I don't care about color (I'm riding a sh!t-brown Iron Horse anyway), and I just put Tioga DH Pro 2.5s on it that I'm very happy with...hmmm.

if you just got 2.5s then get the 03 for the better valving and rebound...i love mine its lasted whistler and nelson and local trails for almost a year, feels so nice with medium springs and a raised oil level

Look for an 04 Super T. It will a lot better, and you'll be glad you spent the extra dollars. They were being sold here for cheap, but I don't know if there are any more around. I think the fork is $499 on Pricepoint.

I'm lucky to have the 400, I ain't getting any more, trust me. Particularly if I want a flak jacket or something this year...so how's the turning radius on the Boxxer race? And good to hear about the '03, do you thing it would work for a 220 pounder???

performance wise a Boxxer Race (03/04) and the JrT will be very close, maybe the Race will be a bit better. As other have said the JrT is not a great fork in situations where it must quickly cycle through its travel repetedly more than a couple of times.

Strength/durablity, the JrT should better than the Race. If you buy used go Marz.

These types of 'versus' debates are always tough.

Having owned a 04 JrT, looking back I should have bucked up and bought the SuperT or looked for something a year old, in good shape for what I paid for the JrT new.

Check the Buy and sell. $400 US doesn't seem unreal to find a one/two year old, well taken care of Super T/Slider...

boxxers have a much better turning radius then jrt or supers. and you get external rebound adj. there also lighter then jrts and you can adjust your travel from 6-7.

He wants a Marzocchi, stop being a sales rep(when you are not even one:P)

If i was given the choice between an 04 or 03, id take the 04in a heart beat, I love the black annodize and bolt on crowns.

The cryo-fit lower crowns are way less reliable in my books

*edit* typo fixed

04 doesn't have any cryoshit?

Both my 04 junior crowns have bolts. And the whole fork is black...

You know my fork.

You can even make out the bolts!

Hey dude

I think you got 04 and 03 mixed up.

03:
-supposedly better damping
-less tire clearance
-cryo lower crown
-gold hard anodized stanchions

04:
-supposedly not-as-good damping
-more tire clearance
-pinch bolt lower crown
-bad-ass all black

Marz reliability >>> Boxxer reliability

-Rex

Although the damping system isn't the same, I've been told that the 04 feels as good, or better, than the 03. Doesn't spike as much, for one thing.

Carbuncle, come up for the indoor show (starts tomorrow night, runs through the weekend). I remember seeing Dave at Overtime with a big box of forks he was going to blow out.

Make it a day trip, bring your wife, take her to dinner. :)

I was going to, then we got a puppy for Christmas...oi he's a little bastard! We also got ourselves a nice new Jeep Wrangler (hence the $400 limit on fork purchases). Thanks for all the replies: I'm ordering a fork tomorrow, I still have no idea which one though.

Well, I got the Jr T on, rode it at exit 38 (brutal rock-strewn downhill-at least for me) and on some flowy single track and moderate stunts so far and it's perfect. Huge improvement over the Psylo, I had the shop top up the oil and even at my rotund 220lbs I'm not regularly bottoming it out. Good stuff, at least for me, and thanks again for all the advice.

I weigh 225 and i couldnt stand riding the fork with the stock springs, i think they are weighted for a 150 lb rider or something. Touch the breaks and major nosedive.
I Got heavier oil put in and some extra heavy spring and now it's perfect.

399 american from Pricepoint. I just saw that one of the other big onliners dropped to 399, too, maybe Jenson.

The rattling sound is kind of funny, though. Not alarming, since I know what it is, but it does sound like a pair of hamsters running around inside my fork.
