It's been out for a while, is anyone on one?

I sold the Scream about a year ago, and I'm getting the itch to get back on a bike again. I'm gonna pick up a road bike from my shop within the next few weeks, but I need something to hit the trails.

The SX Trail looks pretty cool for an all around bike.

Could use some parts swapping (bars, $90 brake pads, grips), but otherwise looks pretty legit.

Anyone?

I don't mind the 6" limit up front, though I would probably ditch the SC for a DC fork. I LOVED my Slider and the Shiver.

A 6" DC on a 6" travel frame. Hey, I got an idea...

How about that 03 Slider you sold to Rosco and that Banshee Chap you bailed on :P :)

Had one on the Scream. Didn't bother me. I can get a thompson at cost too, so I can always replace it with a legit unit.

Spookymilk - Your right, I am a gear whore :).

Des - I was just thinking about that fork. I wonder how that fork is treating him? I miss it :(. Also thinking about the Chap. I'm glad I got the Scream though. When I was in West Virginia, I did a lot of stupid shit where I was glad I had the Scream. Now that I'm getting old (lol) I don't need something as burly as that thing. The Scream was a beast, and I miss it, but I can't ride like that anymore.

Another idea of a similar bike would be the Devinci Magma. Better parts (except for the shock), full seattube, horst link, 6" rear like the SX. I believe it can run a dual crown (comes with a Pike Team though - a 5.5" fork but unlike the 66 doesn't weigh as much as most DC). Also cheaper - from what a buddy told me when he asked a Devinci dealer they were priced around $3.5K vs. $4.3K for the SX. But the SX looks very nice too. SXs are now found in some shops, I know JH has one and I heard Dizzy did too??

MSRP is $3300US for the SX-T. I can employee purchase it for a good bit less than that. That's why I'm looking to get it.

Ross - Good to hear man! I'm glad it's still serving you well :)

Shit, my knees are fucked up from years of stupid shit. They get real stiff, and some mornings, I can barely walk without a lotta pain. Don't know what happened to them.

IFO!!!

I needed to hear from a specialized whore to further reinforce the idea that the SX-T was a good idea :)

I have been gone a long time!

I never thought I'd live to see the day that the TBH founder would switch teams.

What color is it? Tiger striped? Acid green?

One of these days, I'm gonna have to PM you for some painting tips. I need to fix a rust spot, and I'm just gonna paint it myself so I wanna hear any tips you've got.

It wouldn't be the same without 10 million posts.

I'm pretty settled for most of the build.

This will be the first bike I've bought complete in almost 10 years.

If I wasn't such a cheap SOB I'd toss my 2004 SX for a 2005 SX Trail.

I don't get the business about max travel on forks... the axle to crown height on the 66 at 6" is about 40mm higher than the axle to crown height on my 6" slider....

you could put a rigid chopper-style fork on the front of that bike and force the headtube off and it'd be a 0" travel fork..

Yea, I've often been curious about the same thing Furious. What does travel matter?

If anything, a DC fork would be safer for the frame, given the same Axle-to-crown.

I ran the Slider on my old Stumpjumper for a few months, and never had any problems. I wen't pretty big on that thing too.

it isnt so much the fork, as the type of riding said fork usualy sees..

if a frame makers says no DC forks, the bike is ALOT les likely to see big drops..

if they say DC friendly then the bike is likely to see much aggro riding...

if it were me i'd slap a smaller travel DC fork on the SX everyday of the week...

but then i dont drop diggeres rock, hahahah

how would the SX compare to the turner 6 pack...
