while i'm figuring out to do about purchasing a new camera, my dad has graciously let me borrow his Olympus OM1, 75-150mm zoom, 50mm standard, and 50m macro lens.

i was just finishing off the last couple of photos on his roll, and thought this one turned out reasonably well.

it's the windshield wiper of my car (needs some tlc i know).

no problem.

any constructive criticism?

i'd never really tried art-y photography before...mainly just biking photos and candids of people.

it's a good start. one must remember (i forget often!) that an effect does not make a picture. you may feel differently but i don't feel that the rusty joint of a windshield wiper is too great of a subject.

find something with abit more color?

i dunno

what i think would be cool is take a pic of some goggles or something. try something with a mirror lens. that would be pretty sweet

this was really just "trying out a macro lens."

in retrospect, i agree, the colours are really flat.

ah well.

will find more interesting subjects next time.

There isnt much of a very strong focul point on that, maybe the bolt i guess on the hinge but it still istn that defined form everythign else. Also work on colour balance.

I know nothing about photography but i find macro shots look better when it is focused on something with texture or seperate sections. Where as the hood is smooth and so is the wiper so it kind of so-so. But what do I know right.

great shot, i don't know what these guys are talking about. Keep on snapping shots, it is all trial and error. Next move outside and take some close up plant shots.
