So here is my question, right now i have an old 99 Stab built up with 2003 Super t's, Arrow Racing DHX rims, raceface cranks, e thirteen guide and all that jazz. I also have a 2004 Cowan frame sitting around collecting dust. So my question is, would it be better to retire the Stab and build up the Cowan for my DH rig. I know that these bikes arent really the same "style," but is it a better idea to retire the old full suspension frame in favor of the new hardtail?

Sorry for the long post!

Thanks,

Brent

noone can help you with that... a fully against a hardtail is totally up to you.. depends what you ride.. one thing though.. the super t will have to be switched to a shorter travel preferably single crown fork

Do the Cowan justice and build it as a dirtjump/street ride. I've got an 03 DJ3 on my 04.5 Cowan and I love it. Mounted to a super T, and it would not be nearly as fun(opinion). I would not want to ride the Cowan as a downhill bike. I take mine downhill on occassion, but its certainly not best suited for it. thats my opinion anyways, hope it helps.

personally, I wouldn't set up the Cowan as a DH rig.

It's geometry is designed around dirt jumping and street. Perhaps sell the Cowan and the Stab, and buy a newer fully frame?

Or just keep the Stab and build up the Cowan with a single crown fork, light'ish wheelset, etc.?

It's all up to you.
