So, I just read in the DH 40 post below that ifo ordered one and has to wait till mid feb to get it. Well, just throwin' this out there, but if in the future, theres some bike product that's out here in cali well before its out up there, you could have me buy it for you (I make regular trips to Santa Cruz and the Bay Area and have good relations with a few shops that would most likely cut me a deal, even on a new item that they have to order) and I could simply ship it up to you guys. I would have a fee, of course, but nothing too big, like a new swanky tire, or any other nice components, no matter how random. I'm always building up a bike, so I could use whatever you've got laying around, as long as it's in very nice condition, and you're all right with parting with it. Just a thought. I think its a shame to have to wait for something (a DH 40) that I could have gotten you a few weeks ago and sent already. Just a thought.

Isn't this much like soliciting a service, like is banned on these forums?

I'm sure if IFO wanted to, he could order one up form Jenson or someone, but he prefers to go with his shop.

Not a bad offer, but I don't know whether anyone would be that desperate over a month's wait, and the 2 or 3 weeks it would take you to get it here... who knows though.

Yeah, I see your point on the solicitation-hadn't thought about it.
Supporting your local shop is also way cool, for sure. I just figured that I go to the city all the time, and in my experience, the forks I've bought from people all over, it doesn't take more than 3 to 4 days to get somewhere, and I like helping out fellow riders.
I'm going to San Luis Obispo this weekend to play a gig with one of the projects I play in, and they have so many good shops there, so IFO could have the forks by next Friday at the latest. It was just a thought, really.
