DJ/Street? Why?

Single track, Alex Supra D I'd say. Something light.

cookedbananas on these forums started with a Rhynolite XL on his street/Dj bike, and totally noodled it, it wouldn't spin, it wouldn't make it in between the seatstays/chainstays. Then he got a Singletrack, it got noodled, not as bad though, and now he has a doubletrack, and no problems.

I've had 2 36H doubletracks on my bike since I first got a bike, and I've cased REALLY bad sometimes, and it's never been trued, never needed to be trued, I just tighten the spokes a tiny bit every few rides.

So I'm gonna recommend a rear doubletrack:)

Mag30 is also a good choice, it's lighter, but not by much, but it's more expensive.

My vote goes to DBLTRK:D

Mavic ex729 if you want a disc specifc rim, or the ex721 if you want something a little lighter (about 75 - 100g or so) and rim brake compatible.

I've used both (when they were known as the D321 and D527), and put them through all sorts of hack riding, and neither of them show any sign of damage.

Mag30 and Doubletrack are the same rim, with the exeption that the Mag30 cost more, has a different color, and supposedly haa some magnesium in them to make them lighter... but the jury seems to be out on that one.

Have fun

Trailpimps are very strong, but they're extremely pricey as well.
If you need a rim for dirt-jumping and street, go with something light that offers good strength.
In my opinion, go with an Alex Supra-J(590g), Supra B or Supra-MT.
Check out the Alex site at alexrims.com or the Mavic site at mavic.com

Fair enough I guess.

My vote still goes to a singletrack, you shouldn't be mangling rims that bad, but if you are, then go double track.

I've got singles on my street/jumper and doubles on my trail bike :P

I'm not saying singletracks are bad or weak, I'm just talking about things I've known happen in the past.

...on a side note, I think he didn't tighten the spokes properly on the singletrack:rolleyes:

Nothing wrong with singletracks. I've been riding the same ones now for 2 years, runs true,no flatspots, little maintence. so that's 2 seasons at whistler and year round on the shore...on a hardtail no less...but maybe cause i only ride on pavement...?

Well it all depends how smooth the rider is.. some can ride a single track and be fine. Others need the strength of a double track. You said you broke the single track.. So i would say ex729 if your concerned about weight.. double track if your not.

If the single track has lasted four years, I would just buy another one. You can't expect any wheel to last for ever, 4 years is impressive if your riding at all agressively.

Just a thought... I know it's fun to try something different :D
