It you are really split, I would definately put your money into the local company.
Unfortunately I haven't ridden either frame, so I can't lend much advice.

Well, if you're ripping more street, get the C-Dale. If it's more trails, go Cove . That's just what I'D do though.

well obviuosly it could be money ,BUT consider this frame is one of Aaron chase's meal tickets, the more they sell the more valuable he is to cRack N fail, the more money he can ask plus he gets those free bikes to ride and he doesnt have to flip burgers at a real mcjob ... BUT instead he has to ride bikes that arent how he wants them? And he is gona tell people they suck so crack n fail can can his ass and get somebody who will spout the company line?
you tell me if that equation adds UP?
when somebody sez out of the blue the frame is not how chase wanted it with absolutely no info to back it up we should start asking questions and that goes for everything on NSMB...don't accept an opinion for fact
is it the frame geometry,a certain part on one of 3 models, was it a comment taken out of context, what?
see if you just say you think something is cool / sucks thats your opinion and you can think what you want.
BUT at some point you gotta back up yer statements,

Well its real similar to one of cannondale's xc frames. And I've heard from a few people they didnt make it exactally how he wanted it. And the foreplay has nicer geometry and looks like a higher quality frame :thepimp:

You sure the Foreplay is $888? I thought it was less than that.
You should see if Cove has any of last years that they can sell for less; they had some before Christmas.

the chase frames have shitty geometry i think...reaally long chainstays and a short top tube make for a wonky bike.

back when it was called the stiffee sl i was so hot for one. They don't have the geometry online anymore so i don't know if they changed it. back when it was fresh you couldn't get a bike designed for beating on with 16" chainstays, 12' seattube and 72ºha and a long toptube. (i think it's slacker in the ht these days). The chase doesn't do much for me.
honestly the two bikes come from different philosophies, but they're both trying to accomplish the same thing: be more bmx-like. the chase is from the short front end, stable rear school, and the foreplay from the short back end comfy front end school.
that said, the chase, as production model has inordinately long chainstays, 16.7!!! I doubt Aaron's frames are like that!
the trouble with the foreplay, as it used to be at least, was that (just going by the numbers here) the wheelbase was so much shorter, 40.1", than anything else because of the steep headangle that to get the claimed ~24" toptube the seatangle was really back, so pinching the seat is going to be a bit more difficult unless you're a long armed fella or don't mind leaning over the front.
keep in mind that i'm generalizing and that i'm going by what i remember of the stiffee sl's geometry.
that said i think the 16.7 cs and 69ºha on the chase proclude its purchase for those seriously intent on whipping the mofo around. but then again donahuge specced a 69 on the DOC, so what do i know about other people's preferences.

Rode them both this week. The Chase has longer stays which is noticable, besides that the ones I rode had a very similar feel. I would go either way and perfectly happy myself, neither one is a lemon by any means. Top tube lenghts and head angles arevery similar. THe Chase felt a little more stable, the Foreplay a little less so.
Numbers for the Foreplay as I have them:
ha 68
sa 69
tt 22.75, 23.75 jr & rg
cs 16
bb 13.25
w/ 130mm fork
Chase:
22.6 tt
16.7 cs

the foreplay is not a trail bike. it's pimping dj'er which handles street with ease. - i have one. it's the right bike!

i would so get a foreplay if i could afford it
but i cant so im getting a sanchez which has horizontal dropouts and is more of a street /dj frame then the foreplay and is half the price

Eric, out of those two I'd get the Foreplay. Better geometry and local support, plus no ugly 1.5" headtube that you aren't going to use.
ONe thing to keep mind is that neither frame has horizontal dropouts, which pretty much rules out single speed, if you care.

guys, just to clear things up. Yes, the 05 chase had pretty bad geometry, but this year (2006) the chase 1 frame has been specced with different geo. Something like 15.75" cs or something.

what's the setup? Are you running 26's? For that kind of money, I'd get something a little rarer, like say a arrow racing dss...

You're going to love this, the Arrow DSS IS the old Cove Stiffee SL (the Foreplay's predecessor) but in 24" form.
