i have a pair of seth pistols that i ripped the binding out of. they have been mounted twice already so there are a number of holes. (8 to be precise... the reason there are not more is really dumb and the casue of this trouble... thanks to my local store)
there is no hope of putting any binding i have laying around on them becasue of the layout of the existing holes.
however, i can mount a set of Tyrolias b/c of the new screw pattern.
this would cost me about 200 bucks (binding are heavily on sale)
do you think that the ski will hold up? anyone have any experience with remounting skis several times? Anyone here ever snapped a ski in the middle? seems like it would be pretty hard to do.
i love the skis and i really want to be able to ski them. i feel that i have a Seth Pistol shaped hole in my heart :(

you can re-mount up to 4 times. most places wont do it more than 3 or 4 just because they dont want to be responsible if anything happens.

You could just possition the whole binding that you already have behind your old mounts I imagine.

Depend ing on how hard you ride, youre:
1-OK.fill the old holes with epoxy.
2-S.O.L......This has been my experience. If the ski fails, its DONE.You dont want to find out 5 min. into the first heli drop of the day.
I did.:(

a few options - you would almost be best to put the old bindings back on but put in some snowboard style T-nuts - they might help you use the old holes..
another option - get a riser plate - that mounts differently and then you can mount almost any binding onto that...
the only advantage you have right now is the wood core in the ski

when i was a ski tech i refused to mount a ski more than 3 times. some will go 4, but 3 was my max. on my personal skis, i wouldnt go more than 2.
as far options...you can mount it a 3rd time OR as skifreak said, a riser plate would do the trick. it would make the ski feel screwy for a short while since you will be in a totally different position on the ski than what you are used to...but atleast you can preserve the ski for a while longer...
really...the best bet is to just get new skis when you can afford em :(

i stay clear of tyrolia. they sponsored a bumps team i was on a handful of years back and we went through more bindings than i can remember. they may have changed, but i have a sour taste from all the skis i went through mounting bindings. soooo yeah, i had no idea they were using a riser plate :P

i was warry as well, but the guy i spoke with convinced me otherwise. he'd been on the same set for two seasons, and he was a pretty big dude. (for a skier) also they have gotten top notch reviews from a few gear guides and individual users. these do look quite nice in person, also. so i went with it.
i guess i am just gonna go with it... at the very worst. i am out of like 30 bucks (mounting) and will have an extra set of sweet bindings.
what bindings do you use?

depends on the skiing...
rossi axium 200 for big mountain
rossi scratch 140s and look p12s for park/pipe
reactor12s for everything (giving them a try this winter)
sal s910 ti for learning - new tricks in the park, jumping off bigger stuff...etc.
each pair of bindings goes on a corresponding ski...we have lots of winter crap here :)
