I thought I would disseminate this, a kind of ingenious way to put the word out on your bike although
a they might have posted it on ebay and you could have busted them,
b a legit red Stiffy might be subject etc...
anyway it's all moot, and the important thing is to help a stranger, so here it is:

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION FOR THE COVE STIFFEE BIKE
I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY PAIN, AND IF YOU FEEL FOR ME ENOUGH YOU CAN MAKE A DONATION.

STOLEN
Red COVE STIFFEE FR
Cardiff, 2nd November 2004, between 12-1pm

This is my pride and joy, at least it was when i made the split second decision to ride into uni on Tuesday the 2nd of November. Not usually something i would do, but i knew i was only in for about half an hour, so i thought id be ok.

I arrived as normal, with my friends on bikes, proceeded through the campus, where i locked my bike up in the bike sheds, which are monitored by CCTV.

When i returned 45 mintues later my bike was gone, after running round to security, i get there to be told no one is going to be back for another 3 hours, GREAT! So i fill out the log book, and ring the police where they add me to their database, and thats all. So all in all, fabulous!

To cut a long story short, no one will help. The Police wont follow up my leads, because apparently a reoffending bike thief is not an issue, even when they knock off 5 grands worths of bikes in the same week as mine. And University security are too preoccupied eating dohnuts to check the cctv properly, or even let me look at it, hell they didnt even want to look at a picture of my bike before they checked it!

My insurance doesnt cover the bikes full value, and i cant claim becasue the thieves took my lock after they cut,.smashed, or done whatever they did to it. So im totally bikeless, with no hope of being able to afford another one, as this took me 3 years to build up, and im living on the student poverty line already.

This auction not only tells you about my loss, but gives you the chance to help finance a new run-around bicycle, currently i have nothing, and my finances only get worse paying for the bus fair 24/7. So here i am appealing to your good nature, to proove there are some good people in this world.

So heres what the bike was like:

Cove Stiffee FR 04 Frame 17.5 Red

Marzocchi Z1 Drop Offs 04, with ETA lock down.

Hope Mono M4s, 200mm Front 180mm Rear

Mavic 519 rims, on XT Hubs

Chris King Headset

Easton EA30 bars

Thompson elite 400mm seatpost

FSA V-Drive Xtreme cranks and rings

LX front mech

Deore Rear Mech

DDG Pedals

ODI Lock-on grips

SDG saddle
Lizardskin chain protector

RIP (Rest In Pieces) my COVE Stiffee, i hope your new home loves you as much as i did.

- Should you see this bike please let me know

- -----Edited for/from oblique commentary------

- Positive feedback will be left for every transaction

Should the bike be returned/retrived i can see to some form of generous reward.

And remember people, when leaving your bike USE at least 4 BIG locks, and take away one wheel so they cant ride away on it.

I feel your pain man.

It sucks that your bike got jacked. Its pretty terrible that nothing is safe anymore and no one can be trusted.

I hope you do get your ride back, I'm sure everyone here will look out for deals that seem to good to be true and report them.

On another note, I don't think that it is approppriate that you are asking people to make donations to you.

If every single victim of a bike theft did this, the board would be flooded with adds asking people to donate.

Karma does come around, and although I'm sure people who do send donations do get good karma, but I don't think using this board as a method of charity advertisement is ethical either.

Sorry to here about your bike though. :(
