Hello folks I just want you guys to know that I won't be around for a while. My family and I are in BC Childrens Hospital, for my daughter. I am simply asking for your prayers and good wishes, for her. I'll check back every so often, and see whats up.
Some of you are probably wondering why I'm doing this, well it's because I think of you all as a bit of a family.

Thanks Justin and Family

Hi Guys,

(admin, maybe you can make this a sticky).
I just got off the phone with jaru72 (Justin).
He is a good friend and big contributor to .243.
He is one of my sounding boards, sort of speak, for business and personal stuff.
Justin is probably the biggest bike fanatic in the world.
I was at his wedding and was one of the first to hold his daughter Trinity, who is now about 2 years old.
She is the cutest little bugger.
I got the bad news late last night - Trinity is sick.
I hope we as the biking community can show Trinity, Justin and thier family as much support as Justin has given to this community.

Any time Justin - you know where to find me.

Just got back from Childrens H.
Every one is in high spirits.
I passed on all your good wishes - Justin is pumped, and can't wait to get to a computer with internet to thank you guys.

That girl is so cute even with all those tubes hooked up to her.
She named her IV machine - George.
I'll try and get some more recent pic of her, the one I put up is over a year old, and she turns 2 in 7 days.

Other than that - I think I am in love with Trinity's nurse.

Hi. Here is an Update. She is on the Chemotherapy. She is doing OK, no side effects, yet. Today she gets her central line (CVC) put in, you'll habve to look it up, I can't explain it here. When that goes in it will be easier to put in the meds and stuff without the two IV's she's got now. We are doing OK, stressed, as you can imagine. We have family that is pulling care duties for us and that helps. She had a real bad fever for about three days, and it still come and goes, leukemia at work:flame: She also had a 5min seizure, and was treated for it, she has been a bit better since(go figure). That's about all for now, I'll give some more updates as time goes by.

We would like to thank all of you, again, for you words of support and hope for our little girl. It has meant alot to us.
Thanks, Justin Trinity and Elaine:heart:

Allright!!!!!!!!!! We have some good news. She has gotten thru her CVC procedure, and all is well. Amazingly after the surgery, her fever went down and her attitude came up. She is having a nap with Elaine right now, and seems to be comfy.
Today is her Birthday and she's 2 yrs old. YEAH!!!!!!!!!! She will overcome this trial, we all will.

I got all of the new mags with me, Dirt, MBA, Mountain Bike, Car, and I got a whole wack of new '03 Catalogues. So trust me, my breaks are spent sleeping, reading the Cancer Care Binder and reading my books and Mags.
Thanks again for all of the support. It has been a good day.:D

Sorry Guys and Dolls

I know I have not posted for a while, I had thwe cold and I was not allowed in to the ward. My little girl has been on a break form the Chemo, and will be back on this Monday. She has been doing OK. She has been getting a litttle sick lately, side effects from the drugs. She now has yet another tube in her, it's called an NG tube and it is used to feed her. It goes up yer nose, down yer throat, and down to yer tummy. She now gets her oral meds this way, and she can get supplemental liquid food this way as well. She has been eating in very small amounts lately and this will help keep her fed and well. Ela and I are douing OK, we are trying to fight off the cold and shit. I'll most likely be doing the monday night shift, so I hope that there will be no real surprises for me(crossed fingers and toes). I finally got out on my bike on Saturday for a 1hr boot around the 'hood. Man it felt great, I got to clear out my head and heart, and put soem shit into perspective. Every so often I'm gonna get on the bike just to keep me sane.

Well thats all for now, I'll try to be a bit more consistent in the future. Thanks Again NSMB'ers. Talk to you laters.

Howdy, I'm here at the hopital again. It's been a fairly uneventful week. Yes, that's a good thing. She has almost finished her second week, and next week gets a special treatment that is designed to stimulate the growth of the good cells. Hopefully after that we can bring her out of the room and let her play in the play room:D This week I got puked on. HAHAHAHA laugh it up y'all. It was warm vanilla Pediasure. A liquid food supplement that they give the kids. It was Gross and Slimey, but the best part was that she looked like Jack Nicolson afterwards. I had to laugh, and ironically she felt better after. She has also had a Bone Density Scan, AKA an MRI. It was OK for the fisrt few minutes, but then she got scared and restless. It was neat to see her skeleton on the screen tho... After that, she was very talkative and had tons of questions. She loves being out of her room, mind you, so would I!!!! Well thats all for now, Ill yak later.
We love all of you, Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Holy Shiznit!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe that I've taken this long to post an update, I've pretty much lost track of time here...
Things were pretty nuts over that past two weeks or so, Trinity's Potassium was way out of wack and to top it off she got a flu type virus. She is Immuno Surpressed. That means that she cannot fight off regular stuff like the cold, and is very exposed to other types of viruses and bacteria. She is on more anti-biotics than I knew existed. She had to go down to ICU, for a night and day because ICu can give higher doses of Potassium and monitor her stats, more accurately. This gave some of the familys we've gotten to know a bit of a scare because a little person died at VGH's ICU the same night we went downstairs, God Bless and Keep Her, Trinity came out just fine with her stuff all balanced out.
This has been super hard, she is also NPO, which means no food or drink by mouth, this sucks nuts, it's because her intestinal tract from throat to bum, has been stripped of the mucus that protects it.
As of right now tho' things are a bit better. She has color and will soon be able to drink soem real fluids. We hope to give her some BarleyMax (www.barleymax.com) to help her insides. She is still throwing attitude around, so her fighting spirit is still in good shape, and that is what it is all about. If you have the spirit to fight, the need to survive, then all should be well.

God Bless all of You. Have a Good Xmas, and drink one for me and my Family.

Love and Thanks, Justin, Trinity and Elaine Ward 3B Childrens Hospital.

I once had severe food poisoning and had a serious out-of-whack pottasium problem too. It's dangerous - your body cannot metabolize properly without it (ADP/ATP). The problem is not painful - just causes lethargy.

I'm so glad to hear that Trinity came out of the viral infection OK. The treatments she is receiving has to be very hard on her system - she sounds like a real fighter, and that has to make you proud.

Best wishes to you and your family for the holidays.

Hmmmm, it's New Years Eve, and I have some good news. Trinity may be able to come home this weekend. Just for acouple of days mind you, but home for two days is just fine with us. We'll be back here at the hospital on Tuesday to start the Chemo again. All of this is dependant on her blood component counts staying nice and level, but it all looks good anyway.

Have a Happy New Year folks!!!!!!!:D

Hey Y'all,
Justin here. I just want to take a moment to thank all of you Guys and Gals, for all of you support for my little girl. It has been a hard road so far and we will get thru all of this. The doctors THINK that Trinitry will do fine, no promises though, but I have hope and my belief that she will kick the thing to the ground.

We recently started round 2 of Chemo, and by the beginning of Feb we should be able to come home for a break again. It was so good to have her home for that few days last week, she actually became more of herself, and ate food like a tiger cub!!

We want to give all of you our deepest heartfelt gratitude for all of you support, and love and prayers.

Thanks, Justin Elaine and Trinity

Jaru, your situation is inspirational. I offer my best wishes for a full recovery. Trinity sounds like a strong little girl, determined to defeat her illness. All the best to you and your family, and of course your little girl, Trinity.

Well, Hello fellow dirt lovers!!!!!!!!!!
It is ,what, Feb 1 03, and things are still humming along here in BCCH. Trinity finished the second round of Chemo on Jan23, so far her side effects have been rather minimal, all things considered that is... She does seem to have a bit of internal bleeding, amd has some wierd spots on her legs have shown up lately. Ths spots are not Chicken Pox, but we still do not know what they are. Her spirit is in good order though, and she still likes to go play in the play room and horse around in her room. Her eating has gone down a bit, and she is on a feed for the time being, it would seem that she is following along the same path as before, she slows down the food intake and then catches up when she comes home. Speaking of Home, the rumour mill is in effect here, and she will get to come home as soon as her blood counts come back up. My hope is that she comes home just before the Bike show, so that I can help Eric out at the booth, and know that my daughter is safe at home, less stress for all of us.
On another Note, if anyone is interested I'll have a Picture album of Trinity with me at the booth, come by, say Hi, and take a look at my lifelong hero, Trinity. My wife might be around too.
Oh, I'll be a the .243 booth... See y'all there!!!!

Hey y'allsa,
I got some real good news foe everyone... We are going home today for a break!!!!!!!!!! Trinity's blood counts are nice and high, and that equals a break for all of us. We have to be back this friday for blood and kidney tests, but after that we can have like a week off!!!!! It rocks.
After this Trinity has one more round of Chemo to go, plus three lumbar punctures and one more Bone Marrow test. If after all of that there is no more Leukemia then that IS IT!!! No more. Of course there is the 3 years or so of praying and hoping that there will be no relapse, but they say that after 3 to 5 years if there is no relapse then she will be considered CURED!!!!!
If anyone wants to drag me out for a ride please let me know... 604 205-2470 is my pager, I could use a good rip around on my itty bitty bike!!

Later !!!!!!

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR GOOD VIBES AND PRAYERS.

Ladies and Gentleman, I have access to a computer....

Well not really, I am here, back at Childrens Hospital. Trinity has been home since Feb 19. Today we were re-admitted to start the 3rd and final round af Chemo:D This means that we are practically done. we will be here for less than three weeks, if all goes well, and then go home to Surrey again. After she recovers form the Chemo, Trinity will have to go thru 3 Lumbar Puctures to give more Chemo so that the Leukemia does not go into her Central Nervous System. After that she will have the operation to remove that CVC line that is in her. THEN we will be all done. End, Fin, Finito, Das all Folks.
In other news, Trinity is 15.6 kg, which is heavier that when we started this adventure and her blood counts recovered really well after the second round of Chemo, it only took a month, during which we were at home in Surrey. During the home break I broke the Norco...
The Norco Is Dead, Long Live the Norco. I would like to thank Steve at Atomic and Felix and Eric for helping me get it stripped, for the lessons on how to build a bike. The details are over in the gear column.
Thats all for now, someday I will have a computer at home and then maybe I'll be more consistent with my postings.
Ta Ta For Now.

Peace and many thanks to all of you,
Justin

Hey Folks!!!!!!!!
HAPPY NEWS WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was the last day for IV Chemo.

Trinity has now officially completed the harsh chemo, for good! All that is left is for her blood counts to come back up for two consecutive days and then we go home. We still have three LP procedures to go and the operation for her CVC to be removed, but as it stands the most worrisome part of the whole thing is now over and done with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope to come out for a Friday Night Urban, real soon now, as soon as the weather co-operates, and I can get a car.
Um, what can I say... I can't believe that it is almost over. I look at the old pictures from just a few months ago and can't believe that that was my baby, she look sooo much better now, healthy and happy!!

My wife and Trinity and I just want to say thanks for you prayers, your hopes and wishes, and your good Karma. It has helped immesurably, and in more ways than you'll ever know. It feels good to know that this community of riders is a REAL community. One that is willing to give support to one man and his family. I want all of you to know, guy or gal, that if you ever need support in a life problem just drop me a line and I'll help however I can, just want to ride, no problem, need to talk, no problem. All of you have helped me, and I'll help you.

Lost of love from the Jadunath Clan.
Peace.

Hey y'all, I'm here at the hospital today, gotta do my night shift tonight... I'm hoping to be free on friday night, and I'm hoping that the weather will be good. If all is well I'll try to come out for a ride.
Trinity has started to eat again and her blood counts seem to be slowly coming back up, they went down earlier last week, stayed there, and are now coming up. If she doesn't come home this week, then it'll be next week, I'm sure of it.
She is in very good spirits, running around and yaking with all of the nurses, as if they are all best friends.
Here is one for you folks. Last week I told her that when her CVC line comes out, she's gonna get a bike. Her little chin hit the floor, no word of a lie!!!!! She started giggling!. My wife Elaine asked what color she would want, but she was still laughing. I'm gonna get a bike for sure. Helmet, little pads, the works. YEHAW!! It's gonna be a great Summer!!!

Any way gotta go, I'll talk to y'all later.

ps: Colin, I'll call as soon as I get some big enough Balls to go to the shore...:D

Ya, I dunno though, he's pretty old and stuff. My sister and brother in law don't know yet, which is for the best as they just had a baby boy yesterday. My dad had a pretty hard childhood and smoked for like 23 years but quit in 78, so we'll see.

I just lost an aunt 7 months ago from lung cancer, she was 75 and smoke 2 packs a day, ate beef, pork, butter and chicken. she died twice on the operating table, saw god and became a christian....

It will be real hard on everyone when your dad starts treatment, but you HAVE to HAVE FAITH, listen to what th docs say, ask real hard questions and then go study more stuff. There are ways to help you Dad, natroupathic, holistic, etc. Maybe get him to go see go see Dr. Jim Chan, he is a Cancer Naturopath Doctor, one of the best in the country. He's on Maquinna in Burnaby. Give it a shot. It won't hurt to try.
As for Trinity on the 23 of May we'll hopefully be having the last meeting, and hopefully we will be given a date for her CVC to come out, and then the Summer will rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iwas offered a job at Coast Mountain Sports in Richmond but it is only p/t at 8 bucks an hour, so thats why I'm going to stay on EI, (I make more), and use the resources to try to get grants and stuff. It will be fun and hard, but my family back home in Trinidad, all seem to have their own business, so I'm gonna try too.

Anyway you guys take care, and I'll see y'all soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hi everyone,

Not the best news - lets get those good thoughts going again:

"DEAR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

TODAY IS A VERY SAD AND TROUBLING DAY FOR ALL OF US. TRINITY IS IN A AML-M7 CANCER RELAPSE OF 30% IN HER BONE MARROW. THIS IS A RESISTANT CLONE TO CHEMO AND HAS BEEN GIVEN 15% CHANCE OF SURVIVAL AND THIS COURSE OF CHEMO OFFERED US IS CONSIDERED A SALVAGE TREATMENT. THEY HAVE GIVEN TRINITY A 1 IN 4 CHANCE THAT THIS LEUKEMIA WILL OVER POWER THE CHEMO THAT THEY HAVE OFFERED TO US WHICH SHOULD PUT HER BACK INTO TEMPERARY REMISSION, ONLY A 1 IN 4 CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD HELP US!!!!!!!!!!

THEY ARE AIMING AT USING A BMT ( BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT) THERE ARE POTENTIALY 20 PEOPLE INTERNATIONALLY TO CHOOSE FROM, BUT THERE ARE MANY FACTORS THAT CAN RULE THEM OUT, IF IT IS A FEMALE WHO HAS HAD PREGNANCIES, CANT USE THAT BM. IF IT IS A MALE WITH A CERTAIN VIRAL INFECTION WITH THOSE ANTIBODIES, THEY CANT USE THEM EITHER. UNRELATED DONORS HAVE A HIGHER MORTALITY RATE THAN A RELATED, BROTHER OR SISTER FOR TRINITY, WOULD BE IDEAL DONOR..........

THE THIRD OPTION IS NO TREATMENT AND THE USE OF HOSPICE AND PAELIATIVE CARE. AND LET HER REST IN PEACE. THIS WAS MENTIONED MORE THAN ONCE AT THE FAMILY/DOCTOR MEETIN REGARDING THE NEXT TREATMENT MOVE FOR HER.

SORRY TO HAVE BROUGHT YOU ALL SUCH HOPELESS NEWS, ANY AND ALL HELP AND ADVICE AND SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED NOW SINCE TIME IS NOT ON OUR SIDES IN THIS DECISION MAKING ORDEAL."

I remember this thread from back in 2002. And i just read every page again in 2006. What a brave little girl she was, I wish I had known her. I bet she smiles upon all of this board when we are riding.

It's funny whats still out there eh?

My daughter still affects so many people, and I know that she always will. She's the main reason for my goal to be a Early Childhood Teacher, I need to continue to live in her honour, and for myself.

Here's one of my fav pics for y'all to smile about!

'nuff said....most of us get sometimes stressed out and all that just by our usual day routines....:| how does one achieve such strength....?
