so i've noticed in a few posts that there seems to be some odd things happening on seymour; ladder bridges cut and rocks piled up unsafely at stepdowns. we should all try and keep an eye out for this type of stuff and post up here if you've seen anything strange going on.
thx

mark i dont know how much longer you were there after i left but there was a strange guy at the top of corkscrew/incline. he took off down incline when he spotted me coming up corkscrew. he had something in his hands but i couldnt tell. it possibly could have been a saw but he was far away and it was getting dark and im not 100%.

Maybe that WAS Mark you saw!:D
FYI,theres a guy who hikes the mountain every day,up BP,up Incline, ove to the parking lot and across to where old buck come out at 4 km,and then down the road. He's on the road between 5 and 6 pm.
Im pretty sure he's cool, but he got pretty upset a few years back about having to dodge riders all the time.
Everybody remember to flash a little PR with all the hikers you encounter out there!

Will's Way (http://bb.nsmb.com/newforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47072)
On Bridle Path last Thursday, Switch and I came upon some babyhead rocks piled loosely at a stepdown. The rocks wouldn't have helped anyone climb up or ride over the stepdown, and you couldn't see the rocks until you were over it. I'm not quite sure how I rode over it without a serious endo.
For the time being, I'll carry a camera to document any further destruction I see.

Are you talking about the old, grey-haired guy? I always thought he was harmless.
The destruction on Will's Way is well away from the route you describe.

Crap...hope you find this person quickly. People that go out of their way to harm other people (that they don't know or know anything about) really piss me off.

I see that guy all the time, he is OK, but not very friendly, he barely answers when I say hi.
I don't think he would do anything.

There's an older guy, fairly tall, who hikes Seymour almost every day. He doesn't really approve of bikers but I couldn't see him bothering to destroy anything. He prefers to be left alone. I think he's innocent of this.
I noticed that the teeter on TNT has gone for a Burton about a week ago.

Also, the Gerbil Cage is missing rungs on the uphill exit right where you'd think you might want 'em. It's still rideable, but considering how burly those rungs are and the fact that the pieces were nowhere to be found.....

I think those rungs have been out for awhile. The pieces are probaby lost in the muck. I don't think there's anything deliberate going on there.

Build a treehouse above it and sit in it all night with a spear.
OR, make a sign that says "protected by crazy guy with a spear, saboteurs beware"
Once the rumours (and feces) start flying.. watch out.

I dunno, the way you overbuild everything, it would be too much trouble unless you are carrying a shitload of tools... :)

rode CBC, corkscrew and neds yesterday... no evidence of sabotage seen, although i swear someone pushed me off the gerbil cage into the swampy mudpit!!! :P
That little rolldown with the rubber on it near the top of corkscrew had some broken rungs under the rubber, but it felt way cooler riding it that way... kinda bounces ya out :)
Oooh and lovin' that new ladderbridge on Neds.. feels like ur gliding or riding a zipper :D

"Barely answers"? How about never answers. I think he's responded to me once in three years, but that won't stop me from greeting him every time.
I often see him on Powerlines and Mt. Seymour Rd., but never on Bridle Path. He is definitely not the person we are looking for.
I kind of admire the guy. He's obviously retired but hikes halfway up the mountain every day, so he must be in good shape.

hmmm... i rode Neds on Sunday... don't recall any rocks on trannies, but I don't know what section you are referring to :???:
The log drop? with the kicker to hipped tranny on the left?
I rode it around 6pm if that matters

harsh, I feel for ya.
so was it deliberate sabotage or just some rocks that had rolled into a channel?
Team2K
09-29-2004, 03:19 PM
if its at the start of Neds, that section is rocky as hell anyways... more likely a rock bounced or rolled there, than was deliberately placed there.

BTW, I want to make it abundantly clear that the rocks piled on the Bridle Path stepdown were deliberately put there.
I'm talking 5 or 6 round babyheads loosely piled at the base of a stepdown. The pile was specifically put there so that it would collapse as soon as you rode over it. Furthermore, it was placed in such a way that you couldn't see it until you were basically rolling over the stepdown (and possibly over the bars).
The location is east of the BP bridge on Bridle Path.

One of these days I'm gonna catch the f*cker when I'm out hiking. I almost look forward to it.
Maybe I should start hiking the trails that get sabotaged the most. Of course, then there'll be a post on here saying "there's some stoner dude thats always hiking the trails, he's probably the culprit" and then I'll get my ass kicked
