I was at Leeside a few days ago, and the condition I found it in.....I wanted to cry :( I heard about the fires, but I didn't think it was that bad. However, I know whining is not going to get anything done, so I wanna throw this out there: is there anyone who would like to repair stuff there? I am willing to come out and help as much as I can, pitch in cash for plywood and nails and McDicks, but I can't do it every day (gr. 12, p/t job), and also, I am not a natural-born leader by a long shot. Is anyone out there interested in being the leader of this project? Or, if anyone thinks that repairing Leeside is a stupid idea and a waste of time, please post some ideas as to how we can have a place to ride in the winter that covered and free to use. PM me with any ideas/plans; I am willing to work on this in any free time I have.

I talked to a friend of mine today and he is talking to Van council to recognize Leeside as a public park and start turning the lights on again, etc, etc. So him and I are gonna start a petition, so if those who are interested, their friends, parents, relatives, ex-girlfiriends, all sign, we may have a voice. If Leeside will become legal, the city will care if shit gets destroyed, so it will hopefully deter crackheads with matches.

The Lights are on again. I would love to help build, but its a bling bling thing. We need some cash. We can raid construction sites, but that's not gonna help us get leeside recognized as a real park. Either way I'll do what we gotta do. Someone needs to find there rich uncle and get him to drop a g-note on wood.

lights have been repaired and are on
its not crackheads.. it was a bunch of kids
me and TREV caught the kids lighting the spine on fire and chased them out of there..
the kids looked like 9 or 10..

You could spend 100 bucks on wood at leeside and it'll get burnt or screwed up in a few days.
Or you could spend 100 bucks and get 12 woodyard sessions and actually learn to ride without worrying about falling on a nail that's half sticking out of the plywood.

Yes, why have a public area that's maintained by the people who use it and doesn't cost anything beyond the wood, when you can just pay somebody else to to it for you? Great life lesson there.
There is nothing wrong with paying to play, but a local project brings our community together, and that is important too. There is enough misery in the Lower Mainland as it is. Good on the guys who rebuild this place!!

I think its a rad idea but the same thing will happen again. So go support the woodyard!

You see the only problem is that I live in North Van and don't drive, so I can't get to woodyard that easy. I totally support it, but Leeside is closer for me on a day-to-day basis. So I got the idea to repair Leeside, and I want to make it happen regardless of the chances I will be taking.
