If I see one person on here crying in the winter about having nowhere to ride, I think I'll probably go fucking mental.

Alright then you can go ride skateparks when its pouring rain out and see how much fun you have.

And sure you pay whistler cuz they take you and your bike up, but its not like that money is going into rons pocket or something. It pays for rent plywood heating lighting etc. Ron has been doing the BMX scene in vancouver a HUGE favour for a very long time and now hes letting mtb's in and all you people do is bitch and whine about it. FUCK OFF then, its not like rons getting rich off of this, hes doing it because he loves riding his bike.

Ron, sorry I couldnt make it out i had to work.

Morons.

I think one of the things is that not everyone has a bike to ride at the woodyard. I have a big dually and a ht but If I didn't have my ht there really isn't anyway I would go pay to ride my dually at an indoor park.

I have lots of fun riding my mountain bike in the mountains when it's pouring rain. I like to ride outside on dirt and rocks surrounded by trees, not in skateparks or on ramps in a warehouse.

Do I enjoy watching "street" MTB or BMX in vids and on TV? Absolutely! Do I think those riders have incredible skills? Definitely! Do I have the least bit of interest in doing those things? No. It's just like trials riding...I think those guys are amazing but I'm not going out and start doing back wheel hops all over the place. I'm sure Ron is a great guy and the Woodyard is a great place for the people who want to do that type of riding...but every week I see a post on here about how it's going to close and it's "our" fault because we don't go out and support it. It's the law of supply and demand. If there isn't the demand for a product or service, the business won't succeed. I'm sorry those of you who like to ride that stuff may lose out on a great place to ride, but it's not our fault, stop blaming us.

I'm a little curious as to how much support the BMX community gives to the Woodyard?

Have fun riding what you like to ride, wherever you like to ride it!

from what ive seen he gets a ton of support from the bmx'ers
the first time i went it was filled and everyone was on a bmx

last time i went there were probably 12 people and only 2 of them were mountain bikers

so basically from what ive seen the bmx'ers support it alot more then the mountain bikers

...so why is it going to go out of business if the BMX community is supporting it? I just don't think there are enough people who ride street/park style on MTB to keep the place open. Like I said before, I don't ride that stuff, so I would have no reason to go there. If I did ride skateparks, etc. I would support it. Are there any local BMX message boards? Maybe those are the people who should be hounded about supporting it?

Gimme a break you're not being hounded just don't read the threads. Why do you have to post in a thread that does not intrest you just to tell us that it doesn't intrest you?

If you see a woodyard thread don't click on it.

Think you can handle that?

AHAAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA

That was mountain biking summed up in one handy sentence.

This thread obviously wasn't aimed at people who aren't interested in riding the woodyard. I don't even really understand why you would read the thread and comment on it if you have no interest in the subject at all. I don't read threads about the newest superduper all ladderbridge, never touches the ground, trails and then say that they should have used different nails or something. This was aimed at all the kids who ride park/street and complain in the winter about having nowhere to ride, and always go on about how everyone should support the woodyard, and then when the time comes to actually support it, they're nowhere. Through the entire day, there were 8 people who showed up on MTBs, and one on a BMX.

To make a possibly odd comparison, it's like the NSMBA. I don't know what it's like now, but I know that a few years ago when I used to ride the shore a lot, the NSMBA had a tiny membership compared to the people who were always spouting about trail maintenance and how we need to fix up the trails and blablabla. As usual, when it's time to put up or shut up, most MTBers seem to shut up and then go whine about how "the industry" isn't doing anything for them, or some other worthless shit.

And before anyone goes and starts complaining, I have nothing to do with Ron or the woodyard, I just don't like seeing people pour so much effort into giving something great to a group, only to have the group turn around and not support it due to lack of foresight. Here's to hoping that there was a big turnout for the BMX day.

1. Just because I don't do it, doesn't mean I'm not interested in reading about what's going on. I hope it stays open, for the sake of those who ride there.

2. point taken

I'm interested in everyone having a place to ride, whether I'm into that type of riding or not. I didn't realize there was this mass amount of kids who ride skateparks complaining about not having a place to ride in the winter. I'm not a kid and I don't hang around skateparks. I have not been a member of this board long enough to know if this is type of complaint comes up every winter. Those kids should ABSOLUTELY support the Woodyard. If you're sick of hearing those complaints and then seeing no action from those people, I understand where you're coming from. (some of my comments may also be coming from that BMX vs. MTB thread)

*puts down pot-stirring spoon and apologizes for thread hijack*

now all you skatepark MTBers get out and support the Woodyard before it's too late!

I recently heard from my newest biking friend "I never ride in the rain" and I almost passed out, or passed wind, but both reactions mean about the same. I love to ride in the rain. Riding in the rain makes you a better rider and gives you an additional 350 days per year to ride the Northshore. Get out there in the pouring rain and ride!!!!! Unless your mommy doesn't allow you to. In that case isn't it time for little timmy to go to sleep? Geez.

Or if you don't mountain bike. I can't imagine BMX and trials to be much fun in the rain.
