Yeh.....if youve never built a trail before, do a LOT more research before you start. Ive been working on my trail for over a year......and its my first trail, and im not really pleased with it, ive learnd TONES from it though, which is great, and i wont quit. People usually try to start trails, get frustrated that its going so slow, and quit. So remember, itll take a long, long time.

go and work with other people on their trails. making a trail is a huge amount work to maintain let alone build. I had to laugh when you mentioned trails, it is sooooo much work just to do one.

scope one then focus on getting one trail done by september... they take a long time even with constant work.

dunno if this is reffered to me or keefer, cos I seem to remeber we both got shouted at for not being able to hammer properly at first, then were sent to get gravel, hahahaha was a fun day, and I really really enjoyed and took pride on working on maintaining the shore trails!

Chip...great to see you on the BB:D
But I don't feel that you fully grasp the magnitude of what you're asking about.

PLEASE do not go out and build rickety haphazardly placed stuff just for the sake of building it.
Your profile indicates 14-15 yrs old. Is that right? If you're eager to help out...or have "your own" stuff...but aren't able to take on an entire trail.....clean up a particular corner or something on Rose that is your favourite:cool: ...tell everyone that YOU did the clean up/straightening out. Spread the word. You'll get praise for your efforts mmmk?

building a new trail on rose is what we just don't need

you're time would be better spent maintaining the current trail!:P

Rule #1. Don't build a trail if you haven't been to an NSMBA trail day.

Rule #2. Don't build a trail if you haven't repaired or built small sections of an existing trail first.

It doesn't sound like as much fun, but I too have learned that trailbuilding isn't the easy fun it can seem to be. Once you start building, the natural tendency is to start cutting corners to speed up the process and you end up with a crappy trail. The first trail I ever built started with really fun logrides & drops with a nice flow. By the end of the trail, it was the path of least resistance through the forest. Learning as much as possible before starting will make a HUGE difference.

And maintaining existing trails should always be of #1 priority. I know it's a lot less fun that creating your own, but one good trail is better than 10 crappy ones.

There was a trail I was helping build but the starters kinda gave up. It was only one ladder:mad: and the trail had some serious potential. Now were kinda fixing other trails mostly. I want to finish the trail:S but I need help. I guess we might continue after we get some exp. fixing other trails.:thepimp:

It seems the only trails close by have been ridin soo often, with no maint. done, that they are lost causes. Now it seems I have to ride half way up a mountain to get to a trail that hasnt been neglected. We're fixing some trails a little further down but the ones closest to the bottom are mud pits. I was wondering if there are any maintained trails in Coquitlam. PM me if ya know some.:thepimp:

Work's gonna get done a lot quicker if we just maintain. Also, you can ride eagle.

eagle is the mountain on which westwood plateau and heritage mountian were built.

As for the quicker part.... lots of trail maintence you finish what you set out do to in a day. Our trail is taking too long.

Nowadays if you want anything done right you have to do some work. Besides maybe some of the people who ride and don't do any maint. will get the idea.:thepimp:

Don't u remember what Dave said? "youngsters are out building while the adults come home from work and just wanna ride."

i think its more important to improve the current trails right now

I completely agree. But maybe if everyone who rode the trails fixed them up we would have some extra time to build our own.:thepimp:
