course shipping would be a few$'s outa Bikeroom but it would be new...
see if bikeshed can go down 7-10$ or so...then it might be worth buying....

ditto here, Pig DH in a 243. They are cheap, simple, and durable. I think they also make a deep-insertion model too, but I'd guess that it would have cartidge bearings and be about twice the price.
I'd buy another one without hesitation :)

it's all I ride and it's one of the few things that has never failed on any of my bikes.

they don't last in the wet / mud but what'd you expect for such a cheap product?
i just run one on my HT for street / park and a Diablous on my FR bike
been through too many Pig headsets on my FR bike the English winters kill 'em, the lower seal don't do much..
the Pig Pro model wasn't any better, i flared the compression ring after 2 months of hard riding on my FR bike which made headset keep coming loose

Sounds like you are over-torquing your HS. I ran a Pig (not the cartridge model) for over 2 years. Anything that can survive Vancouver for that length of time is impressive, especially considering how inexpensive they are.

exactly... theres no way the Shore receives any less rain/mud then a English winter...
in fact both climates are VERY similar...
my Pig's have survived just fien year after year...:thepimp:
cant say the same for my old raceface Realseal headset....

shipped ???
if so go for it...
a new one would be slightly more but u'd have to go get it and pay taxs...
just make sure that used headset is in the condition the site says it is...
those are pretty durable so bearing wear is unlikely...

I'm keeping a rain tally with my old friend who is living in Lancaster. This month alone has stomped her weather for the year.

healy, just use your dj1 for a fork man... it will be fine, and it is the least expensive by far!

Just drop your fork off every few months, clean/regreaser the headset, and put it back together. Takes all of 10 to 15 minutes. Do the same with non-sealed hub bearings as well (like on Shimano XTs), and you'll be pretty much problem free.
One other thing. Hose your bike off after a muddy ride, and MAKE SURE you put the bike where it will dry relatively fast. If you leave it outside, or in a cold carport, you're asking for parts to rust up.
Hey guys, Graeme from BikShed here.
I figured $27 with shipping is fair, but if you ever think a price is out of line just let me know and I'll see what I can do. I'm not here to rip you off. This particular headset was ridden on pavement a total of 5 times, it doesn't get much newer than that.
Thanks for the feedback!

5 rides is just enough to break it in for you :)
